Only when you get deep into the book concerning its methodology do you find out that their research for 2014 is based upon performance and data from the 12 months ending 3/31/13!!!!! So if you are looking for a primer on value investing and just another stock list that looks like an index fund this book is for you. But if you are looking for insights into the 2014 market, look elsewhere. The only individuals that are guaranteed to make money from this tome, are the authors.

This is a great book to read if you have not seen the issues for prior years. This is a book for a "buy and hold" type of investor and provides a good place to begin researching some very well known companies. The information provided is useful and it's a good source of info. to keep up with companies I already own. However since it is a book intended for long term investing, there are relatively few changes in the 100 stocks included in the book in each new calendar year's updated version.
I bought the 2012 and earlier editions and the 2014 edition was not too different.

Its a great reference to start, or add to, a portfolio. I mostly use it to get a feel for those stocks which I'm not already familiar with and use the fundamental information (provided) to get an initial "feel" for the stock. In addition, I find the "Reasons to Buy and Reasons to be Cautious" a great way to get initially introduced to a potential new buy.

The authors just publish 100 stocks they culled from leaders in different sectors. The first author has put out over 25 books, with 2015, 2016 ... on the way? S&P 500 has 9 sectors, the authors choose 17 sectors to help get them to 100 stocks. One glaring missing sector stocks were sin stocks (alcohol, tobbaco). The had none of these companies. They also dipped into the NASDAQ to increase the # in the book. This book might have been better if they stopped around page 60. Seems the book was just created with value line, msn money, and stock earning reports basically. Most of the book is regurgitation of data out there. Save your $ and read a copy from the library to save $.

I use Dividend.com and this book to help me make my stock selections. Their stock choices and summaries of companies are excellent. You won't regret buying it. It is a simple book to understand, and they usually make the right calls (knock wood). I just hope they continue to write it for 2015.
