A Precise and complete accounting of the formation and training of the 509th Composite Group which dropped the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Well written and with many pictures, its detail gives the perspective from the soldiers viewpoint.

This Book historically, along with pictures of crews, aircraft and places brings memories to mind of the last days of WWII. Every American Family was touched from this war and the days of PEARL HARBOR. I believe President TRUMAN saved many many lives from a very grievious decision to drop those two bombs; both the Japanese and American Service Personell and civilian casualties would have been lost. This Book's Author has compiled an historical enenity in my mind that will never go away as long as I live.

The Patriotism in America was alive with activity and we didn't mind the rationing for the troops who were "over there!" Churches were filled with prayerfull people who stood against the alternative! Many paid the supreme price for serving. Mom's & Pop's, grandpa's & grandma's & children built bomb or shell crates after school hours so that todays people may have their chance & choice to be alive & do the same.

Do not forget what it cost all of us oldies & our families for you to be alive today!!!

I really enjoyed this book. Written by the "boots on the ground" people who lived the life. I would have given it 5 stars except I paid for the autographed copy and what I received was not autographed. As someone who has visited the airbase at Wendover numerous times, I was disappointed by that since it would have meant something to me to have that.
