This book is the first of its kind - the only book on the market, to my knowledge, that teaches lawyers how to use social networking in their job search. And, while the focus of this book is on getting jobs, the skills taught in this book transfer to anyone looking to use social networking sites in a professional capacity. I am a lawyer and already use social networking sites, but I still learned new techniques from this book. Amanda does a great job of turning a technical subject into words that are easy to understand and a process that is easy to follow. Finally, the book is convincing that lawyers and law students (or anyone for that matter) really can and do get hired through relationships they build on social networking sites.

I entered law school in the fall of 2010. Both the business and professional worlds were moving toward social media, and I was not keeping up until I started reading this book. In the current job market, it is essential that you understand how to use social media professionally, and this is the perfect book for that task. There are some basic Dos and Don'ts when it comes to each social media platform, and this book spells them out very clearly. The book also features plenty of examples of actual tweets, status updates, and wall posts, and uses these examples to teach what to do and what not to do.

If you are a master planner, this book will only make your life easier by facilitating your plan to integrate into the online community. Even if you hate to plan, this book is still a winner because the author provides a suggested plan that the reader should follow. If you follow the basic guidelines in this book, you will start to see new professional relationships sprouting up through social media connections. These relationships may create further networking opportunities or may even lead to future employment. While this might sound speculative, one thing is certain: You won't find a job through social media unless you truly integrate yourself into the online community by making a name for yourself. And how are you going to make a name for yourself? Why not pick up this book and see what it has to offer? You won't regret it.
