THE 70S: THE DECADE THAT STYLE FORGOT is a fun book filled with pictures on the garish styles that were the 70s. There's color photos of home furnishings and decor, and clothes for both men and women.

There's also funny commentary by the author and the book is hard cover with a dust jacket and measures 5.25" x 7.5".

Reason for only 4-stars is because the layout obscures some of the photographs when they really should have been full page.

Another good book is 70s Fashion: Vintage Fashion and Beauty Ads (Icons) and 60s Fashion: Vintage Fashion and Beauty Ads (Taschen Icon Series) (French and German Edition) both mini-books with full page color photos.

This book is so funny. The writer really put his quirkiness into the book, which made it a joy to flip through. The perfect coffee table book, filled with photographs galore. I showed it to my mom and she loved it as well. Its a mix of iconic pieces of the 70s, and also the stuff that never made its way on the runway. Definitely a good investment if you like the 70s style, or just want a good coffee table book. It also came in really quickly which is a bonus. Cheers.

A FUNNIER BOOK HAS NOT BEEN WRITTEN. EVER.
HONESTLY, I LAUGHED UNTIL MY SIDES HURT.
IF YOU ARE A PRODUCT OF TEEN-AGING IN THE 70'S, THIS BOOK IS A MUST HAVE.
SERIOUSLY HILARIOUS.
THE PICTURES ARE GREAT BUT WHAT MAKES THIS BOOK SIDE SPLITTING ARE THE COMMENTS.
I AM BUYING A COPY FOR ALL MY FRIENDS OF THE SAME AGE.
YOU WILL NOT BE DISSPAOINTED, TRUST ME...
AND IT TAKES ALOT TO MAKE ME LAUGH.

The book features advertisements mostly from British magazines. So most of the styles are particular to England in the 1970s. Nevertheless, there are many cross-Atlantic similarities. The comments on the gaudy, over-the-top, overall bad taste styles are funny. The author is very good at being very tongue-in-cheek about her comments. It's good fun for anyone who lived through the decade.
