Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
I bought this after I saw the authori's original book in my doctor's office which outlines his plan for reducing cholesterol. She said others had told her the program works, so I thought I would give it a try. After scanning my doctor's copy, I fast-forwarded to purchasing the cookbook which I have enjoyed. The recipes are not complicated. I was not familiar with apple fiber, but he explained that in the book, and I was quite surprised and pleased to learn of yet another possibility that would help to reduce cholesterol. Any improvement is a step in the right direction.

This is a very informative book and easy to read and understand. I now understand a lot more about cholesterol and how foods can affect how my body deals with it. I decided I didn't want to take meds to lower my cholesterol which was at 275. I had been unable to lower my cholesterol with diet and exercise up to this point. I followed the major recommendations in this book - which are to eat oat bran and take Enduracin niacin. The author has other items one can use also to help with lowering cholesterol (like rice bran oil, rice bran, apple fiber. All of which add variety while doing the job.) For the eight weeks I used the oat bran muffin recipes included in the book- but you can have your oat bran as a hot cereal. They were easy to make and it didn't bother me that I had to bake 12 muffins every 4 days or so. My doctor wanted to put me on cholesterol meds, but I told her I am trying this cholesterol cure instead. After eight weeks, my cholesterol went from 275 to 186, and was my doctor surprised! I'm glad I tried this book first before taking cholesterol meds.

For real! I lowered my cholesterol to recommended levels using this book by this author! He has added one ingredient which is superlative, to what he used in this book, for himself, his family, especially his son, who had very high cholesterol at a young age. The new ingredient is rice bran, which is listed in some of his newer books. I buy this book still, to give to friends who are trying to lower their cholesterol, triglycerides, and blood pressure. I am back on it currently, as a lifestyle change forever! This man was a medical research writer in a medical oriented famil I hope it works well for everyone who reads it. I found mine on Amazon! Thank goodness! Georgia C.
