Book Description

This is the first book in The Abigale Chronicles Series of chapter books for young readers.

Abigale Fontenot is a 12 year old girl living in West Bluff, Louisiana, who believes she is perfectly ordinary.

When she's threatened by a bully on her way to school one day, what happens causes Abigale to begin a new journey. She has to ask herself, "Is it real or is it all just a dream?"

As Abigale learns in Book One, things are rarely exactly as they seem. Friendships are formed with unlikely people: a wizened old woman and Abigale's arch nemesis, Emmett, and with their help Abigale learns she is far from ordinary.

About the Author

Jo Michaels is...

Hi, I'm Jo. Let's forget all the "Jo Michaels is blah, blah, blah" stuff and just go with it. I'm a voracious reader (often reading more than one book at a time), a writer, a book reviewer, a mom, a wife, and one of the EICs at INDIE Books Gone Wild. I have an almost photographic memory and tend to make people cringe at the number of details I can recall about them and/or their book(s). My imagination follows me around like a conjoined twin and causes me to space out pretty often or laugh out loud randomly in completely inappropriate situations.

I have a degree in graphic design, and my journey to the end was one few students who begin that program ever complete. However, this was one case where my memory and OCD tendencies helped me. Graduation was one of the most amazing days of my life. But, my most amazing day was when my now husband proposed. Every little girl dreams of being Cinderella someday, and he pulled off the proposal of fantasies.

At the risk of sounding cliche, I'm going to let it out there and say how much I absolutely adore the man I'm married to. Along with my children, he's my whole world.

I've lived in Louisiana, Tennessee, and Georgia, but I've had my feet in almost every state. Traveling is something I adore, and have plans to someday see the Mongolia I've written about in Yassa.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fun read for little girls everywhere September 17, 2012
Format:Paperback
I actually rate this one a 3.5. It's not quite a 3, but not quite a 4 either, because I don't normally read children's books. I do make exceptions for when I'm reading to my kids, but this isn't really the type of book they would read. I do intend to show the 2nd book in this series to my teenage daughter because I think she'll get a kick out of that one, but the first one is mostly setting up the characters.

I do love the in relationship for Abigale and Emmett. It's very sweet and innocent. They become partners in crime in a way, and that'a always fun to read.

Jo has such a great imagination. It's always fun to see what she'll come up with next.

I also enjoy knowing Jo writes these for her own daughter who loves them and cracks up at the adventures these two characters have. So fun!

I found this book very interesting. It puts the imagination into action. There is something for everyone no matter the age. It is a good short read and I can't wait for volume 2.
