More About the Author

Thanks for reading my bio! I am an author, a professor and a consultant specializing in technology management. I am fascinated by the disintermediation of service professionals due to online organizations. (fun stuff!) I am a doctor of philosophy (PhD) in Organization and Management with a Tech Emphasis and I teach *a lot* of classes, mostly all online. I love to travel, and get to do so often; though it would be nice to have a non-working vacation. :) I have written books (and continue to do so), published, I love presenting and giving seminars and workshops, and teaching students. My MBA is in Business, and I've been able to apply both my PhD and MBA to my career for years.

I am recently married, live in Southern California, and like most people making my way through life with as much adventure as possible. :)

Have you always wanted to be your own boss? Tired of the rollercoaster ride in the traditional work place? In times of economic crisis, you can either be challenged or threatened by the unknown. This book boldly introduces you to the world of starting your own business - becoming an entrepreneur. The mere suggestion of becoming an "entrepreneur" can be intimidating to many but Dani Babb has demystified it as she helps you discover whether you have what it takes to pursue your passion as well as how to make money doing it! Dr. Dani Babb is a gifted entrepreneur herself as she's developed several successful businesses and knows what it takes to do that. The book is a step-by-step guide to help you achieve your dream job. What are you waiting for? There's never a better time...

I read this book over the last week. (The Accidental Startup). I enjoyed it and was inspired to do more development of my business idea in the last few days than I did in the last few months. Dr. Babb has a writing style that is enthusiastic and credible at the same time and I liked the survey information and the examples throughout. She writes with the enthusiasm of an entrepreneur (which she is) but also tempered by some of the rigor one would expect of someone with high academic credentials (which she has) I generally like to read other books on similar topics but Dr. Babb comes across as more credible than many. Other books in the genre can seem too much like an "infomercial" even though they can engender excitement (which is what informercials are designed to do). This book inspires the same excitement but is more practical and less "pie in the sky". Dr. Babb does not shy away from the fact that a start-up is A LOT of hard work and that one should expect to put in the hours. Not every chapter is relevant to every person at every point in the process. Because of this though, I'll probably come back to this book more than once.
