What an awesome book that REALLY makes you think! I love soul searching books as they help me immensely as a person AND professionally as well. This book is so compelling that I had my 8 person office read it together, one chapter at a time and then reviewed it all together as a group. I have seen astounding results in my office as a result which has been so rewarding. This would be a SIX star rating if it were possible on this system!

My father recommended this to me when I was out of a job and trying to find my way again. I was reading a lot of professional development books at the time and I was neglecting my personal development.

The 7 Acts that Staub covers are simple enough to remember, yet profound enough to stick with you through those times when your courage is tested:
1) Dream
2) See Current Reality
3) Confront
4) Be Confronted
5) Learn and Grow
6) Be Vulnerable
7) Take Action

We're encouraged to be strong and fearless in our professional lives, yet we forget that we are human and that true courage is more than facing our fears and confronting them (#3). Courage is a process, and part of that process is failure and vulnerability (#2 and #6).

Staub walks you through them not as a teacher, but as a colleague who has been through it too. His examples are grounded, personal, and very relatable. This books is not only for those who feel like they are lost, but those who are looking for that next step in becoming a respected and responsive leader in whatever arena you may be.
