This is a great record, one of the best melodic hardcore records ever and probably the most powerful spirit-filled hardcore release ever. Never has a christian hardcore band combined music and lyrics in a way as this album.

The record is pretty short, only about 30 minutes, but the record flows from one song to the next seemlessly and the flow and mood fits great for all of the tracks and creates an awesome record.

The music on this record sound alot like SHAI HULUD, but rather SHAI HULUD sound like them, since they were around before Shai Hulud started, plus Steve Kleisath, Strongarm's drummer played drums in SHAI HULUD's early days. The music was way ahead of it's time. Off time drum patterns that would make the drum of MASTODON proud, super melodic arpeggiated riffs that every melodic hardcore band these days borrowes from, twangy bass grooves, beautiful breakdowns, clean indie breaks, heavy chuggs, tons of stops and starts, Throat ripping vocal screams with occasional clean spoken parts, amazingly powerful spirit-filled lyrics about God's love, compassion, power, sin of this world, hope, etc...

The recording is pretty good, really good for 90's hardcore, but not great in today's standards. I wish that they would re-release this record remixed and remastered, like they just did with the two older CONVERGE records, hopefully they will someday. The drums hit pretty hard, snare's a bit tinny at times. THe guitars sound nice, but are a bit too thin and have that metalzone sound that can get a little annoying. THe bass is a bit too trebley. The vocals sound great, pretty easy to understand and they flow really well with the music.

Again, the lyrics are amazing. I still look to them for inspiration.

What can be said that hasn't already been said? Advent of a Miracle is quite possibly the best hardcore album ever written, far beyond its time for mid-ninties hardcore. Lyrically and musically, it is one of the most beautifully constructed set of songs I have ever heard. Tight time signiture changes and intricate riffing. I have had this album for four years and it still brings me to tears...I cannot describe it. And the lyrics! The lyrics are the most thought provoking, emotional, spirit-filled lyrics I have ever read. THESE GUYS HAVE NO IDEA HOW MANY LIVES HAVE BEEN CHANGED BY GOD THROUGH THIS ALBUM. I don't know how a person could read Chris' lyrics and not be changed! Believers and non-beleivers have loved this album but I can scarcely think, out of all the Strongarm fans I know, of one Christian that has not told me that this album has been used by God to minister to them. This is the DEFINITION of spirit-filled hardcore. IF ANY OLD STRONGARM BAND MEMBERS COME ACROSS THIS REVIEW, PLEASE KNOW THAT YOU HAVE CHANGED SO MANY LIVES...I can't even begin to tell you. Every hardcore kid should have this CD already, but if you don't have it....by all means get this CD. You will not be dissappointed. There are so many imitators of this band today its unbeleiveable. These guys in large part, brought the new-school, melodic hardcore sound to the scene back in 1996. Christian or not, this is a groundbreaking album that is going to be looked back upon as a classic one day.

I know this album is several years old, but I still wanted to give my opinion on it. I got this album not long after becoming a Christian, and it really ministered to me. Some people may not understand Christian music being anything other than Adult Contemporary stuff, but to those of us in the know, this stuff is soul sustaining. Anyhow, although some people may not paritcularly love the vocal style on this, I find it to be extremely touching, and at times, almost tear bringing. All I know is this...if you are a hardcore fan at all, and want an album that truly exemplifies Christ, then this is a great one to either start off with, or add to your collection. I won't be giving a WHOLE lot of records five star reviews, but this one is a classic to me, and thus gets the highest grade possible...

I can't believe what people have put here! This is one of the most beautiful hardcore albums I have ever heard. Perhaps these people don't like this because it isn't ultra heavy, with so much intensity that you can't understand what's going on. I do like that kind of music to, but this album is beautiful. The vocals are completely original and INTENSE. The drums are SPECTACULAR! Great bass and shredding guitars accompany these elements. This is one of the few hardcore bands that can make me want to cry. The lyrics are deeply poetic, and centered on Christ. These guys seem totally dedicated to God's ministry. I though that it couldn't be possible for someone to like this, but apparently that's not true. However, I love it.

The CD "The Advent of A Miracle" is one of the best hardcore CD's I have ever heard. I bought this CD about 3 years ago and it hasn't been out of my CD player for very long since then. They play a very energetic type of east coast hardcore. They are very similar to Shai Hulud and Stretch Arm Strong (only heavier than both). The best track in my opinion is the opener, "These Times That Try Men's Souls," it is a very compelling song. Others highlights include the full on blast of "Sorrow Is a Sage" and the closer "The Fall of Babylon." The vocals are not bad at all, as a matter of fact there are only a couple of parts on the whole CD that I found it difficult to understand. If you have trouble understanding it and just take the lyrics and follow them through a couple times it will become easy to understand.
One last thing to address about the CD is the fact that the lyrics are very Christian and so are the band members. Anyone who would write a review that attacks this band has no character and should be disregarded.
FOR FANS OF: SHAI HULUD, STRETCH ARM STRONG, and ZAO
