I just got this book. It was great. I read it to my 6 year old sister. And she loved it. You should get it for your child if your looking for a good childrens book. It teaches children to obey their parents and other brother and sisters that are older. And what might happen if they disobey. Your children will learn something from this book. The muffin people are cute!! And the illustrations are very colorful. That alone will attract children!

After experimenting with a variety of new ingredients for her muffins, a little old lady named Nellie was shaken by the sound of what she thought was her stove exploding. Imagine her surprise when she found her muffins had come to life! In this adventure of the muffin family, everyone prepares to leave on vacation to visit their cousins. Unfortunately, young Chip has a problem listening to his parents and his disobedience causes hardship for not only his family but for Chip as well.

Peggy Heading's Adventures of the Muffin Family reminds the reader immediately of the children's classic The Gingerbread Man. But in Heading's world, we get an entire family which sets up a fun and exciting way for kids to learn life lessons! The storyline is instructive for kids while the pictures are engaging and fun which keep their attention.

I read this story to my five-year-old son and he loved the illustrations. He frequently laughed at the funny muffin people and their unique names - "chip", "berry", "poppy", "cherry". The ability to capture a young child's attention while teaching an important lesson of selflessness and obedience, isn't easy but comes through clearly in Heading's work. My son and I eagerly await what is next in store for young chip and the muffins!

A truly wonderful children's story that will take your child on a mental journey that is both fun and one of learning. Normally childrens books are very simple - but often too much so - while the words and story need to be simple enough to be understood, children know a dull plot when they hear or read one ....but not so in The Adventures of the Muffin Family!

Our children enjoyed the book, asked questions about the characters, (they came alive for them), and could follow the story clearly enough to intelligently be part of the plot.

Clearly the writer is someone who has both literary skills AND loves children enough to write something they will enjoy, look forward to,and learn from.

Well recommend!

The Muffin Family has quite an unusual premise going for it. My 7 year old grandson loved it, of course, and another 12 year old girl also liked it. They said they look forward to the next in the series! What was so interesting to the kids is how Nellie baked up the Muffin Family and the names, Berry, Cherry, and Chip are wonderful names for the children - like some of the ingredients used to make muffins - so imaginative. I can't say much more without giving away the plot. It's one delightful book and I recommend it to youngsters everywhere!

I went for the Muffin family story when a friend was having some problems with their six-year-old, to the point of desperation. He was coming over all uppity for no apparent reason and needed an alternative to finger-wagging which can make things worse, as in this case. I've always believed that a well told parable or story-with-moral (and this book has plenty) does the trick far better. The Muffin Adventure was just the ticket and the friend has now been switched on to this approach as a first recourse. Excellent.

This book tells you how the muffin family came to existence, and then takes you on a journey with Chip (the youngest sibling). Chip is always getting into mischief because of his lack of patience and inquisitive nature.

There's a great lesson in this book for all young readers, about how to respect and listen to their elders...and the potential risks if they do not.

This is a great read, with bright, colorful illustrations.
