Editorial Reviews

Based on the comic strip by Hergé, The Adventures of Tintin Season Three finds Tintin and company investigating arms smugglers, 1930s gangsters, the kidnapping of Professor Calculus, lost jewels and much more! From Peru to America to the Moon, no mystery is out of reach for Tintin and his crew, which includes the salty Captain Haddock, handy Professor Calculus and clumsy Thomson & Thompson.

Season Three of "The Adventures of Tintin" offers well-done cartoon adaptations of seven more Tintin stories, based on the orginal and still popular graphic novels by Belgian artist Herge. The selections include "The Red Sea Sharks", "The Seven Crystal Balls" and its sequel "Prisoners of the Sun", "The Castafiore Emerald", "Destination Moon" and its sequel "Explorers on the Moon", and "Tintin in America." All but the last are presented as two-part features.

Season Three continues the fine animation of the series, which closely copies Herge's original and distinctive style. The episodes have been edited to fit a television format, but they retain the best of the dialogue, the intricate plot lines, and the humor and suspense. Tintin and his faithful dog Snowy are joined by Captain Haddock, the detectives Thompson and Thomson, and Professor Calculus for most of the episodes. The result is pure entertainment for Tintin fans of all ages, especially those youger ones meeting Tintin for the first time.

The storylines themselves hold up extremely well. "Destination Moon" and "Explorers on the Moon" remain fresh and exciting, despite the fact that technology has leap-frogged Herge's once forward-leaning narrative. Even Herge's one-off comedy, "The Castafiore Emerald", retains its laughs. "Tintin in America", the third oldest of the Tintin adventures, has been vigorously edited of its original and problematic stereotypes, and pared down to an effective "Tintin versus the Chicago Mob" storyline. "The Adventures of Tintin: Season Three" is very highly recommended.

I have waited for this series since my childhood. I used to read the series in print. But it took all this time to come out on a DVD. "A Great series" and a "Must Own"!

Buy it but I advise to get the two previous dvds first. This ends the series fantastically with both Explorers on the Moon and Destination Moon.

Tintin is timeless adventure that never grows old. Wonderful and clever with humor in all the right places
and a touch of evil characters to keep things lively.

I am Tintin's fan · 1 since I was a toddler so this volume comes to complete my DVD collection that adds to all Herge's books I already have. If you are into Tintin you will adore this set and if you are getting to know him you will get hooked on this awesome character, no matter if you are a kid or a grown up child like me!
