From the Author

Kate is very much like you and me - curious about the kinky lifestyle but afraid to admit it to herself. She finds in Drake Morgan not only someone who can teach her about BDSM, but someone who will take her places she never dared imagine, both in terms of lust and what neither expected--love.

I think because both lead characters came from privilege, it was a little more difficult for some to relate to the story. I feel the characters were very believable, given their situations, and I loved how the story played out. Drake was damaged by his first marriage and didn't believe he could have love and dominance. Since Drake was supposed to be a teacher of Dominance, I felt he was a little too lenient on Kate. But, as was explained later in the book, there was attraction to each other before they even met because of Kate's father, thus they had a hard time staying out of each other's private lives. The story would have been pretty vanilla if it weren't for Dawn. So she was a necessary evil. Overall, it was a good love story and I would recommend it to my friends.

I received an ACR copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review & I have to say that I absolutely loved it!

Our hero is the well known, wealthy, smokin' hot, brain surgeon - Dr. Drake Morgan ("Dr. Delish") by day, but he's also, the dominant, sensual, Master D by night. He likes control, bondage & his women submissive. He is an expert at compartmentalizing his life & never, ever, mixes love with sex... That is, until he meets Kate McDermott - the daughter of his late father's best friend - who he had only heard stories about, but never met. When he finally meets her at a fundraiser, he only knows one thing - he has to have her - but he also knows that because of his lifestyle, it can never happen. She's too innocent & he'd never forgive himself for corrupting her. And, what if her father found out????

Kate is a grad student, currently working as a pop culture writer for a newspaper. She is conducting research on the up & rising world of BDSM. Of course, her curiosity in the lifestyle has everything to do with her article & absolutely NOTHING to do with with any personal interest that she may have... Or at least, that's what she keeps trying to tell herself. Through some series of events, she finally meets up with the Dom who will show her all she needs to know about BDSM for her article. However, she never, in a million years, would have guessed just who her Dom would turn out to be.....

This is probably one of the best books I've read in 2013 & I've read some really fantastic books this year, so far. The characters are well thought out & written. The storyline will have you anxiously turning pages to find out what happens next.

Dominance and submission without pain. No sex toys between partners. Some bondage. Curiosity about the BDSM lifestyle thanks to modern literature. For those of us who read and devoured the FIFTY SHADES TRILOGY this could be our story. Kate has a lot of emotional baggage. She is interested in BDSM but won't admit it, because it may hurt her father's political career. As a journalist she can explore for an article without admitting her true interest. Her BDSM coach is not anonymous though. It turns out to be someone from her father's social circle. What will 'Hanging Judge' daddy do, if he finds out about his friend's kink? There is no leniency in his court for domestic violence. Kate's best friend reads the Dom/sub agreement and is horrified by what she reads. She runs a background check and threatens to tell all to daddy. Kate tells her friend that everything is off, but secretly the D/s agreement is signed by both parties and they clandestinely meet. Then Kate has an accident and her dom takes her to an ER for treatment. The concerned friend finds out and is ready to tell all. No spoiler alerts to how it works out, but you will end up with a happily ever after ending. Great read. Strong characterization. Deep understanding of psychoanalysis. Loved the book. Read it in a day.

Ok I don't know if this author is new or what but good Lord does she repeat her self to the point of painful!! If you are looking for a great story with good BDSM, this is not it!!!! She drug THE STORY on and on. The first 10percent of the story was the characters at a cocktail party talking about Africa war crap and political garbage. If I wanted to be depressed about all the horrible things in the world I would watch the news not read romance/sex book. The idea of the story could have been good but she ruined it by over writing about the stupidest stuff and forgot the hot sex scenes.

My advice is don't waste your time or money!

When you read a story in the erotica genre, there are only so many twists that are plausible enough to get into the story line. Otherwise, you're just reading for the thrill of the sex scenes, which is ok too, if that's what you like.

One of the reviews of this book points out all the similarities between this and FSOG. OK, it's true, there are similarities, and it wouldn't surprise me if nearly half the BDSM/Romance books that have come out since FSOG are also very similar. In fact, I'm reading another one now. Some of the knock-offs might be better than the original, which had some now-famous problems itself. I'd say The Agreement is readable.

If you like to read this genre, you probably have a favorite formula, and this one is a favorite of mine. I don't like hard-core SM (although a little bondage and spanking is A-OK!), so the plight of a Dom that has trouble controlling his sub and ends up falling in love with her is fine with me. I find it amusing, and I'm a sucker for HEA.

Six months from now, I'll have to check my library to make sure I haven't already read this one. But while I was reading it, I enjoyed it. Except for the interfering friend, who I wanted to slap.
