Italy's Empty Tremor, originally calling themselves Noise Pollution, released the CD we are about to talk about here in 2004 under the Frontiers Records label. Empty Tremor has released one demo, one year after their formation in 1993, and since then 4 full length releases with this being their 3rd, and the follow up to 2000's 5 star, simply amazing, "Eros and Thanatos." With a lineup that has stayed intact for the band's entire tenure, of note on lead vocals is the always great Oliver Hartmann (Centers, At Vance, Edguy, Avantasia, Heavenly) and on keyboards, the incredible Daniele Liverani (Twinspirits, Khymera, Genius, Cosmic.)

With a sound very similar to Sun Caged, Dreamcatcher, Redemption, and in parts, Winds, Empty Tremor's music can be best described as progressive melodic metal with riffing guitars, heavy handed drums and soothing keyboards. The CD drifts effortlessly from heavy to soft to progressive to melodic sometimes within one song. Oliver Hartmann sings with perfect control, usually in the lower range, but when needed he can use his vocal talent to give choruses feelings of lift that soars over the listener's head. The songs are completely anthemic, bold, and loud, that give visions of triumph, and lives lived well. The virtuosity of all the band members are all over "Alien Inside," with many times each band member allowed to broaden what it is they should do in a band, and are allowed to shine. And shine they do (especially on many occasions drummer Stefano Ruzzi.) But in no way should any of the members of Empty Tremor be overlooked, for they are in control of their instruments and bring out the best in what it is each individual instrument offers to each song.

Another prog-metal band flying under the radar. Excellent musianship and great songwriting. Italian band with the great Oliver Hartmann (ex At Vance) on vocals. Must downloads are 1) The Love I've Never Found, The Alien Inside, as well as the ballad Stay. If you're a Dream Theater fan, you'll be digging this..........
