Simple and fun, my 5 year old enjoyed it, especially 'Turtle on Computer'.
Doug from the Bronx
We had her for a weekend a few weeks ago and she loves pictures and my Kindle, so I downloaded several books for her that I read to her.

The illustrations are wonderful and the alphabet "rhymes" are hilarious.

I picked this book up with no expectations at all. It ended up being the main book we have used all year to learn the alphabet. It's so great!!! The best thing about this book is that the alphabet runs down the side of each page so when you are on the "E" page for example you have the whole alphabet listed down the side of the page with E highlighted. I taught my daughter to run her fingers down the side going "A, B, C , D " etc. etc. as she had memorized the alphabet song. If she did this carefully then she would get to the highlighted letter and know what it was by using the song. This way she could read the book herself, turn to any page and find out what the letter was on her own. This helped her very much with recognizing the letters. We literally used this book several times a week as her main preschool book (we homeschool). I highly recommend it. You can't go wrong for the price!!

My daughter loves this book, maybe even more than her beloved, tattered "Are You My Mother" board book. I bet we have read this one a hundred times since Xmas!! The illustrations are wonderful and the alphabet "rhymes" are hilarious. I am in the process of purchasing all of PD Eastmans board books for her-I enjoy them as much as she does!

While this is not as involved as Dr. Suesses ABC's it is great when you or your child wants a quicker alphabet book. With entertaining illustrations and allitertative examples (Octopus with Oars, Penguins in Parachutes, Queen with Quarter), this book is a nice way to go through the alphabet.

My only (very minor) complaint, is that a few of the things are a bit obscure. For example, our little one calls the Infant with Ice Cream a baby, and the Juggler with Jackolaterns, a dog with pumpkins. Aside from that it is a great book at a great price. In general, I am a big fan of the little board books, as a number of pages in our paper page books became casualties of our childs first couple years.

I love P.D. Eastman, but this was just OK for me because all it really is is a list of the ABCs. If you are looking for a book with the ABCs in it to share with your child, then pick this up. I was hoping for more.

My 3 yo is proficient with the alphabet and has a few sight words under his belt. He was able to interpret the picture and read the captions on his own. Like a previous reader said, I had no expectations when choosing this book but my little one feels pretty proud after reading it to me. And for $3. No brainer. I am excited to get more of Eastman's books.

This book is still as delightful as I remember it growing up. My 3 year old loves it, and he is proficient in recognizing his letters after many reads. I like that the letters are big, so the kids can see just what they look like. Best ABC book I have seen so far.

I remember this book from my own childhood, so I had to add it to my son's ever-growing book collection. I like the illustrations as well as the alphabet. Maybe the 'I - Indian with ice cream' is not politically correct and the 'X - Xylophone for Xmas' might be offensive to some, but hey, this book has a 1974 copyright date and the world was a different place back then.
