Book Description

Alpha wolf Acksel wakes up one morning in the bed of the one human who was kind to him in school. Now, ten years later, Brynn Mara is snuggled up at his side, smelling like passion and sweet dreams. Even though Acksel has declared that his pack members can mate with humans from now on, he knows that any woman he takes as his mate will have a target on her back. Especially if she’s a fragile human. Deciding it’s better to cut things off than string her along when there’s no hope for a relationship, he leaves without a word and ignores her.

But it doesn’t matter if Acksel acknowledges her or not, because their night of passion has left a permanent reminder of what happens when one drunk wolf forgets protection. Angry, banished wolves from his pack discover Brynn’s secret and decide to use her against Acksel. His worst fears have come true, and the only woman who ever touched his heart is now suffering because of his mistake.

This book contains one ticked off, emotionally damaged alpha, the human woman who can tame him, and a sweet little surprise that no one expected.

3.0 out of 5 stars 2 1/2 stars, could have been great April 16, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
2 1/2 stars, This wasn't a bad book, the story was really good and the writing was great but Acksel the hero was too week and chicken to be the alpha, he cared to much about what the other werewolves though and ended up waiting YEARS to make a move on the heroine and then **SPOILERS** he left her after that one night because he needed a she-wolf who was strong. My other huge issue was that the she-wolves that had been with him got away too easy with treating the heroine Brynn like crap and talking about sleeping with Acksel in the bed that he and Brynn now shared. I get that Brynn had to show her strength but he should have FLIPPED out**END SPOILERS**

Brynn and Acksel went to school together and when everyone picked on him(before his change) Brynn was always kind to him even though she was in the "in" crowd. Both Acksel and Brynn always liked each other but the pack law was that no-one could mate a human or be banished(even though he is the alpha and can change the laws). When Acksel's sister falls in love with a human and mates with him Acksel changes the rules(but he wouldn't do that for Brynn). Even thought the law is changed Acksel still stays away from Brynn because he knows that as the Alpha he needs a strong she-wolf to be the alpha female, because the other she-wolves will not make it easy on the mate he chooses because of jealousy(again he doesn't change the laws for this either**spoilers till later**end spoilers).

When Acksel goes out one night and drinks to much he smells Brynn and knows she is his mate and can't deny his feelings anymore. Going to Brynn's house they become intimate only to have Acksel leave in the morning before she wakes up.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Alpha's Heart (Wilde Creek #2) by R. E. Butler April 10, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
The only woman whom Alpha wolf Acksel Moore ever wanted was a human that wolf law prevented him from claiming. Now that he is Alpha, he changed the laws to allow wolf-shifters and humans to become mates. However, he is afraid of how the pack would treat the woman he wants and decides she is better off without him.

Human Brynn Mara has liked wolf Acksel Moore since high school. She is shocked years later when he winds up on her doorstep drunk. The night leads to a one-night-stand with an unexpected pregnancy. Exiled pack kidnap Brynn with the intention to destroy Acksel. His fear of her being harmed by wolves is brought to fruition.

The Alpha’s Heart is a brilliant romance packed with excitement. I love that Acksel was progressive enough to change the wolves' rules and bring them into this century. It was clear by his actions and memory of Brynn that he always loved her. They fight the odds to be with each other.

The characters are well developed with lots of history. The supporting characters, including villains, were very believable; making the story an enriching experience.

This is a great book for lovers of paranormal romance.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Alpha's Heart April 12, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I loved this book!!! In Mate of Her Heart, we met Acksel and learned that he is kind of a jerk, but in The Alpha's Heart we get to know and love him and his arrogant ways. I love how Brynn has Acksel wrapped around her finger from the get go, its fun to watch the big bad alpha be big and bad to everyone but Brynn and with her, he's a big teddy bear. They have a lot of issues to overcome with a human / wolf pairing but together they grow and become better alphas because of it. I also enjoyed Brynn's growth from a somewhat timid human to a fierce and protective alpha. The overall character growth was great and the interactions between Brynn and her best friend Mia are hilarious. I can't wait for the next book to come out!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Alpha's Heart April 11, 2014

I really enjoyed this book the author did a wonderful job of writing this story. Human girl gets her alpha werewolf. She was smart when she made him work to prove he wanted her and not just for the child that she was carrying. She even did something to prove her self to his pack. Love it can't wait for the next book in this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great follow-up. April 11, 2014

I enjoyed the evolution of Acksel. He went from flaming as$*ole to great alpha throughout the book. Seeing the situation from more than on perspective was good too. Books like this is why R.E. Butler is one of my favorites.

More About the Author

A Midwesterner by birth, R.E. spent much of her childhood rewriting her favorite books to include herself as the main character. Later, she graduated on to writing her own books after "retiring" from her day job as a secretary to become a stay-at-home mom.

When not playing with her kids, wrestling her dogs out the door, or cooking dinner for her family, you'll find her typing furiously and growling obscenities to the characters on the screen.

Her best-selling series The Wolf's Mate, Wiccan-Were-Bear, The Necklace Chronicles, Hyena Heat, Wilde Creek, and Ashland Pride are available now.

She hopes you enjoy her writing and she would love to hear from you. Drop an email to rebutlerauthor@gmail.com, follow on twitter @rebutlerauthor, or follow her blog on her website www.rebutlerauthor.com! Happy Reading!
