Interesting account of a young priest, son of an Anglo-Catholic priest, and his journey into ministry. Captures much of the controversey that the Oxford and Ritualist movements caused for the CofE.

Wonderfully written about a boy's development and individual choices towards the priesthood. The competition within the church was reflected on rather realistically.

I like books from this time period but this just went on and on and on about things that did not forward the plot and many of the characters were unlikable.

I had heard a lot about this author and read a number of his books...all to the same effect. Boring!
