This cookbook is a good start for people wanting to begin an balanced acid/alkaline diet. The first two chapters give you a decent amount of information about the principles of such a diet- there is also a food chart which shows you how some of the most common foods rank in terms of their acidifying or alkalizing properties.

I must admit, when I opened the cookbook and started looking at the main dish recipes- I was expecting to see *more* of them. But in retrospect, the dishes that are given are delicious and I think the whole point of the book is to give you some recipes and a guide to alkalizing foods so you can build your own. And, unlike many of the websites where you can get free alkaline recipes, half of the main dishes include meat for us non-vegetarians. Here's a breakdown of how many of each recipe there were:

Breakfast- 11
Beverages- 10
Breads- 14
Snacks & Dips- 13
Soup- 15
Salads & Dressings-22
Sauces-13
Vegetables & Grains- 13
Main Dishes- 17
Desserts- 17

Although I was looking for a cookbook with more main dishes, the breadth of this cookbook is satisfactory. I don't in general cook five-course meals, but at least I have the information if I need it. I like that this book includes alkaline recipes for things we might have a hard time letting go of- such as mayonnaise (except it's made with almond milk, without eggs- even better)! The book requires you to have some specialty ingredients - but only a few - for example, almond milk, spelt flour, etc. But that is simply because dairy milk and wheat flour are acidifying foods.

Like I said above, the dishes you can make with this book are quite good. I think this is a good reference book for embarking on a balanced acid/alkaline diet.

This cookbook is certainly very helpful in my quest to build my bones due to osteoporosis. I have tried some of the recipes since I recently received the volume. They mostly were tasty and easy to prepare. I will alter some of the recipes to my taste but all in all this book is very informative and helpful.
I am very happy with Chapter 2: The pH-balanced Kitchen. In it I have found many new healthful ingredients to stock my pantry and kitchen tools which make my cooking experience a breeze.
Buy this cookbook if you are serious in achieving a healthy pH-balanced body.

The Amazing Acid Alkaline Cookbook is very easy to read with normal recipes.Some other books get very exotic and are hard to follow. This cookbook does use meat in it's recipes, but I rate it highly.

This book is great for anyone starting to change their eating habits to a more alkaline state. Although true alkaline diets remove all dairy, meat, and gluten this books sole purpose (it states so in the beginning) is to allow someone who is used to a "western diet" to still have their comfort foods but to make them more "alkalizing". I have found some wonderful recipes in this book and highly recommend it to anyone just starting out. As you move towards an 80% alkaline diet these recipes will get your about 60% alkaline, which is probably way more than someone on a standard US diet eats.

I have tried a few recipes in this cookbook and find them easy to follow and doesn't require a lot of ingredients. I did have to pick up a few staples, but these staples are used throughout the cookbook, so it won't be something I only use once. This cookbook makes it easy to eat more alkaline foods.

If you're a believer in the acid-alkaline way of eating this is a great book to have handy in the kitchen. I've used some of the recipes to cook for my wife and children and actually got smiles and "Good job Dad" for the meals. Food that is healthy but also tastes good is a real treat for picky eaters (kids) so I am very happy with this purchase and recommend it highly!

I choose the book because I'm following a program to regulate my body pH.
The low rating was due to the use of Dairy products. Also many of the recipes can be found on the internet or were just not that appealing to me.

Basically this is not a simple way to lower your pH. Greatly reduce or eliminate Coffee, alchol, smoking, animal products! It's simpiler to Just drink good water with lemon a couple of times a day and consume foods that are high Alkiline. Use the pH test strips in the morning to check your progress.

Like most cook books, you'll need to spend alot of time finding the ingredients for these recipes.

Would not recommend this to a friend.

I was lucky enough to receive The Amazing Acid Alkaline Cookbook as a gift and it is a valuable resource and inspiration. I love all the healthy 'real' food options it suggests and the innovative substitutions like the Ground Flaxseed Egg Substitute. The Spanish Style Quinoa, Artichoke Pizza and Lemon Loaf are favourites! As somebody who has tried to follow a primarily whole foods/organic diet for over 30 years, I am happy to give this book space on my overloaded shelves.
