The Aurora Spider-Man model is back (and bigger than ever),

This review is from: The Amazing Spider-Man Model Kit (Toy)
This is the third generation Spider-Man model kit. Originally released in 1966 by Aurora, it was reissued in 1974 by Comic Scenes with a few changes (Kraven's gun, the soft drink can, and the Spider-Man nameplate disappeared). For this third version offered by Playing Mantis the model has been enlarged from 1/12 scale to the present 1/8, which is why it is now a level 2 model kit (ages 10 to adult) and a lot bigger than we reminder from the halcyon days of our youth when we begged our parents to be aloud to have models of superheroes and movie monsters, and not just cars, boats and planes.
What you get when you put this all together is Spider-Man poised on top of a banister shooting his web over the unconscious form of Kraven the Hunter lying on the floor below. Behind Spidey is a giant web design. Just be prepared to show a lot of patience in painting this model, and not just because you have to do the intricate web design on the red parts of Spider-Man's costume (using a ZIG Millennium 005 Pure Black Pen appears to work). Kraven's costume is pretty detailed as well: he has the lion's mane vest and the spotted leopard pants. I have seen some really nice paint jobs on some of these models, including one where the webbing background is done in gold highlights that looked pretty good, so it can be done, just not by me. The Amazing Spider-Man Model Kit comes with all of the plastic pieces needed to complete the model and those instructions sheets describing how to put it all together that we remember so well. Cement and paint are not included: you need red, blue, black and white just for Spider-Man, a dark brown for the base, and then whatever you choose for the background and Kraven. Think long and hard on your color choices before you start painting this one because you are going to want to get it right given all the effort you will have to put into it. This is a model where the 10 year old does the cementing and then badgers the parent into painting it (I did this with my first model of the U.S.S. Constitution).

This review is from: The Amazing Spider-Man Model Kit (Toy)
No paint with the kit! The model is very cool, but it's all white plastic, so you have to go out and buy the paint. It snaps together easily, but is also very fragile. We had to epoxy things together. All in all, it's easy to assemble. Too bad it is not a complete model kit.
