5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome gift for kids!
My 9-year-old son was awed by this clock when I gave it to him for a gift. His plan was to do a science experiment -- to see how long the clock would keep time with various objects as the power source. Ignore what the previous reviewer said, too, as he must have had a defective version. My son's clock has been running on the same potatoes for almost 6 weeks now and...

3.0 out of 5 stars bought for a science project
We bought this clock for our 4th grader to use as part of a science project. It is cheaply constructed and the clock piece does not fit nicely as pictured - it hangs down in the front by the wires. Having said that - it does work as stated. We have two potatoes that have been keeping time for a week. Too bad it is so over-priced for what it is.

My 9-year-old son was awed by this clock when I gave it to him for a gift. His plan was to do a science experiment -- to see how long the clock would keep time with various objects as the power source. Ignore what the previous reviewer said, too, as he must have had a defective version. My son's clock has been running on the same potatoes for almost 6 weeks now and isn't a minute behind his atomic clock. If you're looking for something not too expensive for a science-minded kid, this is a great idea.

I used it for a college presentation and it worked great, it doesnt keep real accurate time, I lost maybe a minute over a 24 hour period, but it could have been the potatoes. Also works with lots of other vegetables and fruits.

I had a friend who had one of these years ago and I thought it was the coolest thing I had ever seen! It is nice to know that such a silly product has lasted through the evolution of electronic toys. Kids are wild about these clocks you will find them interested in science while not even realizing that they are. These spud clocks are safe, fun and kids love them!

We really like this clock, but when we received it, there were no directions. It makes for a great science fair project.

This is a wonderful scientific toy! I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my 7 year old granddaughter. She had this on her "wish list" because she hear about it in the National Geographics. The only thing she doesn't like about it is the potatoes will rot! (lol)
