Editorial Reviews

Fats Domino was one of the most popular architects of Rock n Roll and enjoyed International success on a much larger scale than many of his contemporaries. Here for the first time are both sides of all of Fats Domino's American R&B and Pop chart hits. Includes such classic hits as: "Blueberry Hill", "Ain't That A Shame", " Blue Monday" and "I'm Walking". Across this 2CD set the 62 notable recordings stretch from 1949 to 1959 and superbly illustrate how Fats went from local R&B star to International superstar

5.0 out of 5 stars SON OF NEW ORLEANS April 25, 2010
Format:Audio CD
America's got talent, as is amply proved by this compilation of Fats Domino's hit singles from the fifties. First, there's his playing which is grounded in the rhythm & blues style; secondly, his infectious vocal style; and thirdly his impressive roster of compositions. I remember some of these numbers very well, because they were enormous hits in England, partly because they sounded so different. It was a time of musical change, when rock and roll, trad jazz, and skiffle were beginning to dominate the pop scene, but Fats carved out his own individual niche.

4.0 out of 5 stars the Imperial wizard April 17, 2011
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Early recordings on the Imperial label poor sound quality, but don't get discouraged- after the annoying Korean blues it's pure classic Domino-He's one of the last three great survivors of R&R. I don't need to memtion their names. JLL-LR-FD!
