Both experienced data warehousing / business intelligence (DWBI) practitioners and beginners will benefit from reading The Analytical Puzzle. I came away with new ideas and perspectives. The book covers both the why and how of DWBI. Understanding the why will help you to develop the business case while understanding the how will help you to build a successful data warehouse.

State of the art DWBI requires knowledge of current technology: big data, data warehouse appliances, predictive analytics, cloud computing, data visualization and mobile devices. These topics are all addressed in the book - in addition to fundamental topics like data modeling, data integration and project management.

Throughout this book, the diagrams are very well done - they are very easy to read and support the points made in the text. The author has done a great job of including helpful tips, traps and learning resources throughout the book. In addition, I find the writing style easy to follow. If you're working on a data warehousing or business intelligence project this book could be your lifesaver. Check it out.
