This is a great work of annotated scholarship and just plain fun to read. I already had picked up Volume 1 from a Friends of the Libarary sale at my local library and knew that I liked the compiler's approach and format. Together, both volumes reprint every one of the original Sherlock Homes stories, enlivened by the compiler's suggestions as to the chronolgocial order in which the adventures must have taken place. Volume II was in excellent condition when it arrived, as promised. This two-volume set is intended for Sherlockians who want to understand the context of and references to people, places, and things that are mentioned inthe original Conan Doyle stories. Reprints of original illustrations are included, along with photographs of streets and landmarks, in London and elsewhere, of the places that Holmes and Watson "visited" during their adventures. The lengthy foreword by the compiling author is incredibly informative and readable. Highly recommended for anyone who fancies himself or herself a true Sherlock Holmes devotee.
