The compositions are fun to listen to and the technical abilities are mind-blowing.

I have never taken the time to write a review. In fact, this is my first. I wouldn't even have taken the time but this CD actually moved me. If you are a guitar player and have become disenchanted with today's music give this thing a listen. It is that good! These three guys are spewing with talent. The songs are so dynamic and unlike most shredding CD's it is mixed extremely well. You can literally feel the energy and the fun these three guys are having. It is sometimes complicated because these guys can change directions on a dime but it doesn't lose you. It sucks you in. And although these are complex arrangements it always sounds effortless. This is mainly because these guys understand the most important thing about playing fast. If you cannot incorporate feel into playing fast it is almost immediately boring. At least it is to me.

Guthrie, Marco and Bryan should be recognized for this effort. They should receive some sort of award. However, awards nowadays are saved for obnoxious no talents. Just tune into the Grammy's and you'll see what I am talking about. These guys are in total control of their instruments and they all play with an immense amount of feel. That is extremely refreshing in this day in age. Well done guy's!

I've been a fan of Guthrie Govan for a while from his Lick Library lessons and his solo CD "Erotic Cakes". The other musicians I don't really know, but the rhythm section is very tight and versitile. Stylistically Govan is not all over the place like on Erotic Cakes, but this is probably deliberate. In any case, the tunes and the playing are excellent througout. Kind of goofy that they got an exlicit label just because of the title of one instrumental track, but maybe that was intentional. In any case I highly recommend this to anyone who likes guitar and a high level of playing.

be warned. I believe you cannot listen to this as background music (except the last piece). I have to pay close attention and dive in to enjoy this. But OMG, what a fantastic ride - Still trying to figure out what time signatures Marco is playing, often changing the beat right when I believe I figured it out and always coming back to the main theme effortlessly. Often when it seems to get very serious they throw some humor into it (expected this somehow when seeing the album art). And to finalize the album they end with something so beautiful ("Flatlands"), in which the guitar reminds me of Stevie Ray Vaughan (did I miss a reference maybe?).
My favorite at the moment is "I want a Parrot"....
The album grows and grows on me.....

I can't get enough Guthrie Govan, this guy is incredible. Ever since I discovered his Erotic Cakes CD I have been hooked, and this CD establishes him as my new favorite guitarist. I can't really classify his style....it's jazzy, bluesy, funky and slightly metallic all at the same time. Definitely not a shredder, but I believe he could out shred any of those guys if he chose to! Call me crazy, but the only musician he constantly reminds me of is Vince Guaraldi, who is best known for his Charlie Brown (Peanuts) music. Also, I didn't really know of the other two guys on this CD, sorry guys, but they are all outstanding musicians who seem to have a great time together. I pray that GG keeps putting out music like this, and doesn't "sell out" to the record companies to make "commercially appealing" CDs like so many others these days. A true musician doesn't care about sales, but plays what's in their heart. If the sales happen, they happen. I know I will buy every recording GG makes because he is in a class by himself....all hail King Guthrie!

Seriously, how can these three guys not be great. I didn't go into this disk looking for catchy pop tunes I went in looking for stellar musicianship and I got it. The songs are fun and easy to listen to without getting lost in a flurry of notes but don't worry there are plenty of notes. The album lived up to what I was looking for in regards to these three getting together.

I didn't really know what to expect with this trio. I've been a big fan of Brian's bass playing for years, and it was through his website that I was introduced to this band. My knowledge of Marco and Guthrie is limited. This is an instrumental disc, sixty minutes in length, and each artist contributes three original songs full of attitude, spark and passion. It reminds me a bit of the band Ohm.

I know Marco auditioned to be Dream Theater's new drummer but I think he's out of their league and they couldn't handle him. It would be similar to when Bill Bruford played drums for Genesis. Marco plays with soul more than technical chops, he is creative and inspiring, and to play a song on stage exactly like the album every night would probably drive him nuts. The drumming on this disc is amazing!

Guthrie's clean guitar tones and technique hints of Eric Johnson but when he adds some crunch his own voice shines. He is an amazing versatile guitarist and I need to revisit his solo album.

These musicians gel and it sounds like they had a blast making this record. This disc exceeds my expectations and I hope it won't be a one-off release. The audio sounds superb and the music shines.
