"The Art of Living Joyfully: How to Be Happier Every Day of the Year" is written by Allen Klein. Klein is the author of "The Healing Power of Humor", which is in its fortieth printing, and he's a recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association for Applied and Therapeutic Humor. If there is a man who can tell you how to be joyfully, Klein seems like the guy.
So what is "The Art of Living Joyfully"? It's 179 pages of amusing and inspiring quotes, organized by subject matter, from the likes of Mark Twain, Plato, and George Washington Carver. Klein suggests you pick a single quote and post it in a few places where you'll see it throughout the day. Personally I'd try carrying the quote on me in my pocket to pull out and read on and off during the day. Klein states that it almost doesn't matter how you use the quotes, as long as you use them regularly.
It seems like a good plan. Who couldn't use a little bit more joy in their life?
"Man is so made that whenever anything fires his soul, impossibilities vanish." - Jean de la Fontaine
So does this book make my life more joyful? I believe for one to lead a joyful life one must work at it. Just like one must work on friendship, love and relationships. For this to happen one has to have the right tools to teach us and help us daily into implementing positives into our lives, and this book is a good start. I recommend this book to anyone looking for inspirational and motivational quotes and advice. It also makes a great gift for that special someone.
Allen Klein truly has the gift of writing and I am so happy he has chosen to share it! Can't wait for his next book!
There are 10 chapters filled with many inspiring, some amusing quotations that you can chose from to inspire you each day. As the author writes, "try posting a few where you will see them regularly." Or you could just open the book and select a new one to post every day, on you computer, to sign your e-mails, on your bathroom mirror, where ever you want to remember to find the joy.
Here are some samples I opened to today: Samuel Goldwyn, "When someone does something well, applaud! You will make two people happy." Jean Kerr wrote, "I'm tired of all that nonsense about beauty being only skin-deep. What do you want--an adorable pancreas?" Norman Vincent Peele wrote, "People become really quite remarkable when they start thinking that they can do things. When they believe in themselves they have the first secret of success." And finally, Frank Bianco wrote, "If you begin to live life looking for the God that is all around you, every moment becomes a prayer."
There are plenty more quotations to inspire and remind us to live more joyfully. And this attractive book is great for a gift, for yourself and others.
Many times throughout our day we are faced with something we want and we fulfill that want. We are thirsty--we go get something to drink. We are hungry--we go get something to eat. We want to write something down--we go get a pen. Happiness need not be any more complicated--if we want happiness, we must either go get it or create it where we are. Doses of inspiration and humor that gently and joyfully help us live more peaceful, loving, and fulfilling lives.
What a wonderful book and it makes a great addition to my library. Thank you so much for putting all of these positive and helpful thoughts and affirmations together in one place. I strongly recommend this book.
