Editorial Reviews

Review

A brilliant and clear summary of the whole field of mindfulness research and clinical applications. --Jack Kornfield, PhD, best-selling author of The Wise Heart: A Guide to the Unviersal Teachings of Buddhist Psychology

Review

The Art and Science of Mindfulness successfully combines the rigor of Buddhist thought with Western empiricism. It shows why and how to apply mindfulness in therapy and in life. Instead of telling people under stress "never mind," Drs. Shapiro and Carlson lucidly describe how mindfulness leads to selflessness -- enriching experience and relationships.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mindfulness Meditation in Clinical Settings August 7, 2009
Format:Hardcover
This book lives up to its title. It provides a clearly written introduction to the art of practicing and using mindfulness meditation in clinical settings, and a good survey of the scientific research. The book includes a valuable summary of the benefits that therapists themselves may gain from mindfulness meditation. This is an excellent introduction to the field.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mindfulness heals February 26, 2010
Format:Hardcover
The recent growth in understanding of what mindfulness is and how it can be used in psychotherapy to resolve emotional suffering would undoubtedly make the Buddha smile. This excellent book is another link in the path. If you want to learn more about mindfulness, I also recommend 'The Path of Mindfulness Meditation', available through Amazon.
