Editorial Reviews

Review

"The Autism Puzzle unlocks many alarming truths about this worldwide epidemic and raises the deeper question: What are you going to do about it?”—Dr. Bob Sears, author of The Autism Book

"This book is essential to awaken parents about the relationship between environmental toxins and autism. If you have a kid, you are thinking of having one, or know anyone who has kids, you should read this book! But more importantly, you should give a copy to your pediatrician. This book is a very important one, spread the word!"—Alejandro Junger, M.D., author of best-selling Clean: The Revolutionary Program to Restore the Body's Natural Ability to Heal Itself

"In order to truly understand the struggles of Autism, we need to start looking at the root, which is exactly what The Autism Puzzle does. This book is critical to the health professional, parent, or interested party, who is interested to look more deeply into the causes of the staggering autism rate among our children. I highly recommend this book."—Anni Daulter, author of The Organic Family Cookbook, Organically Raised, and Sacred Pregnancy

This book is so eye opening. It is a little much for a lay person to understand all of it through the first reading, but Ms. Belli's writing is good and accessible, and I will be reading it again and taking notes this time. There is so much information, much of it depressing news, not just about autism but our country's state of health in general- much of it relating to chemicals in our environment. I hope anyone who reads this book is prompted to take immediate action in contacting companies, manufacturers, gov't officials and representatives and taking other positive steps toward taking our health back.

The Autism Puzzle adds to our body of knowledge about the questions we fail to ask about the chemicals we introduce into our home and school environments, especially where small children spend their time. It is important to be aware of the threats to those infants and children, whose attributes contribute to their risk-- through their thinner skin, lower body weight, smaller stature, and tendency to put things in their mouths. Brita Belli does a masterful job of clarifying the issues around toxins in the home, the role they can play as obstacles to healthy development in utero and "on the ground," and in the ways in which we need to redefine safety when it comes to toxics. As Ms. Belli knows, it should not be the responsibility of the consumer to identify the hazards in common household purchases-- the consumer should know that the available choices have all been affirmed to be safe for our children, our pets, and ourselves. Autism, and the rapid growth of its diagnosed victims, is a mystery that seems to have many components-- in this book, Brita Belli offers us an important frame to inform our pursuit of the answers.

Confirmed what I have been thinking all along. Our kids are overloaded with environmental toxins and so are we. Great advise!

Lots of different theories and studies presented. Gives you lots to think about. She doesn't point to any one trigger - just a whole crap load of poisons we've junked our world up with. Very valuable information for each family to make their own decisions.
