Editorial Reviews

Long before the recent trend in criminal investigation shows, there was Autopsy, the show that inspired them all. Hosted by Dr. Michael Baden, one of the century's most renowned forensic pathologists, this 10th anniversary edition features the first two mesmerizing episodes of this groundbreaking, reality-based series, Autopsy: Confessions of a Medical Examiner and Autopsy 2: Voices From the Dead. Timed to coincide with the HBO broadcast premiere of Autopsy 10: Ask Dr. Baden in May 2005.

5.0 out of 5 stars Autopsy Files: Autopys & Voices from the Dead January 11, 2007
Format:DVD
This HBO series is an informative, fact based presentation of evidence from various cases that have passed through the Medical Examiners office. Dr. Michael Baden is one of the top forensic pathologists in the Unites States. His information and views on the cases presented would be an excellent training aid for Police, Fire or EMT's that are going into their respective fields. All in all this is an excellent DVD for anyone that is interested in topics of this nature. Be advised this is not a show for children due to the graphic nature of each case as it appeared at the time of the crime.

5.0 out of 5 stars Michael Baden Rules!! August 3, 2006
Format:DVD
I have also been addicted to this show ever since the first episode on HBO. I have it along with Autopsy 2 on DVD. I can't wait until Autopsy 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 comes to DVD. Michael Baden knows his stuff. I love him. He gets right to the point and is 100% accurate.

4.0 out of 5 stars ground breaking.... December 1, 2007
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
First, let me state my overall opinion of this DVD.

"Buy it." If you are at all interested in what the forensic pathologist does, this would be a wise purchase. I did not grow up watching this show and have just discovered it.

But, I must be frank about the contents. This show is going on 15 years old, and while very well made, it is tame by todays standards. There is no actual autopsy performed. This show was really a template of todays csi-type programs found on the cable networks. Many of the actual "body shots" are shown in a muted color scheme to flush out the gruesome hues...like I said it is the prototype of the existing narrative driven mystery-death cases you see a hundred programs of today.

If you are wanting an all out DVD which takes you through a whole autopsy then I would purchase Dr. Naguchi's Autopsy DVD Voices of the Dead.

I am glad I have this DVD in my collection and think if you are reading this review you probably should have it, too!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Original CSI! July 18, 2005
Format:DVD
I have been addicted to this sow since it debuted over a decade ago on HBO!

Dr. Michael Baden is GENIUS! Listening to him explain all the details (no matter how gory) and how the crime puzzle fits together is both fascinating and remarkable.

HBO has always be consistant with delivering the top of the line in entertainment. I only hope we can look forward to further autopsy releases.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT SHOW!!! December 4, 2006
Format:DVD
I've watched all of the HBO "Autopsy" shows and highly recommend them to anyone who is into forensics. While some stories can be pretty gruesome (and graphic) the way this show is done is incredible! Michael Baden and others have seen it all and it's amazing how they piece together each of the crimes. I've seen all of the episodes and love when the re-runs come on, I can watch this stuff over and over! A MUST SEE for any forensics fan!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Calling all Forensic buffs! April 10, 2007
Format:DVD
If you are a CSI or Anthropology nut, you will like this DVD. There is not a lot of blood and gore. Probably the worse part was an image of a dead child whom had been abused. It was very informative and interesting. I plan on purchasing more of these DVDs.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting cases, little depth
The cases are interesting, but it's a bit of an overload, as too many cases are covered in too little time. There was no real information about King Tut. Read more
