It was hard to not judge a book by its cover, but I was not sure what to expect from this free download. If you never heard of B. Reith before you would not know by looking at the album cover art that he raps (quite well) and has a wonderful jazzy voice. The whole album is great! 2 jazzy songs, 2 rappy songs. The only thing that I did not like about the last track on this EP is that he almost sounds like he is mimicking Eminem on his first album. Playful lyrics with a mimicked? female voice talking back to him. Anyways, other than sounding too much like Eminem, I think it is a great choice if you are looking for a new artist..

At first, the main reason I wished to comment on Brian Reith's EP was because I didn't like that Amazon compared his music to Mat Kearney in its ad to entice us to download this freebie (as of this writing). Anyone who has listened extensively to Kearney's breakthrough album, Nothing Left To Lose, would be aware that the style and sound of the so-called rapping of that album and this EP is night-and-day different... B. Reith has a very soulful, hip hop vibe to his sound, while Kearney's would be better described as rhythmic talking interspersed with beautifully moody melodies (Mat eliminated the talking sections on his latest album, City Of Black And White).

Still, Brian shows a lot of promise with his version of hip hop pop with Christian messages on this EP, but what it fails to show is a side of Reith that has more depth to it and can be heard on his just-released full-length album, Now Is Not Forever. The obviously talented Reith wears all hats on this project, writing and producing it as well as singing and rapping on it.

You'll have to take a listen to songs like "Breath", "Just For You", and "Antidote" before you can accurately judge Reith. Check out some of the lyrics to "Antidote":
"She's looking for an antidote She's looking for a man that won't Take advantage of her heart and steal her soul Leave her in the freezing cold A remedy that will take the pain away So she can go and start her life again Let the broken pieces mend"

For the material presented on the B.Reith EP alone, I can only rate it average. If you're wanting more, the full-length Now Is Not Forever may have it for you.

Didn't expect this EP to be so awesome. Went and bought the two other albums, and it's all I can listen to right now!
Catchy, fun, addicting, and quite refreshing from all the other songs out there right now.

If you know whats good for you, you'll get B's music! His lyrics are catchy, fun and not to mention uplifting. I call this "feel good" music for sure. GET IT NOW! =)

I don't listen to attitude/explicit rap, but that's NOT what this guy does on this FREE ep. It's "alternative rap". His lyrics are clever and the tunes are fun to listen to - if you are a fan of alt pop, you should like this. Thanks for the introduction, Amazon!

I'm a 24yr old musician and music educator on Long Island, New York, USA, and I'm constantly listening to music. I was on [...] a month or two ago and saw that this digital album was a special free deal. I figured "oh, what the heck..lets give it a shot". So I downloaded it and WOW...what a big surprise. Want a good idea of what his music sounds like? Combine Jason Mraz, Justin Timberlake, and Eminem all together. Every one of his songs on this album is completely different as well. Download this if you like one, or any of those 3 artists and you will NOT be disappointed. Good Luck B. Reith.

"Mess" is a great song, and the rest are ok. The album is pretty good; and a much better representation of his music. This is a good Freebee mix: 2 good songs, and two ok ones.

Wow - Really surprised - expected something lame - because got it free. However now I am a fan :) Right up my alley!!! Need MORE!!! All songs rock!!!

His voice reminds me of Jason Mraz... the choice of songs are not bad, especially when it's free! It's worth listening to.
