This is probably the worst "b-sides" collection I've ever owned.

For starters, only 11 songs. When I made a playlist of their b-sides last year, I think it had about 20 on there.
There are several awesome b-sides that are absent from this, and I honestly have no clue why that is.
Of the songs contained here, about half are just acoustic, recorded live on random radio shows.

I could be wrong, but this just seems like SideOneDummy wanted some cash, and the band may have had to oblige under contract.
(Add this to a two-year streak of disappointing / very bad releases from a label that used to be great)

I'm a huge fan of The Gaslight Anthem, but this is a rare "album" where I would actually advise people to "save your money".

It's true that there's nothing really new or particularly revolutionary here. It's exactly what the title says: a collection of b-sides. Most of these have been available for some time and many diehard fans have probably heard or collected these tracks in some form over the past few years. The big incentive to get this are tracks like "She Loves You" and "Songs for Teenagers", two gems that newcomers may not be familiar with. The acoustic versions and covers are decent if you're into that sort of thing.

What holds this back is that it's limited only to b-sides. A compilation of rarities and previously unreleased material would have rounded this disc out more fully, including tracks like "Blue Dahlia", "Teenage Rebellion", "Halloween", and "Hold You Up". I realize you can find most of these songs on iTunes or YouTube but having them in one place would have been a nice touch.

The Gaslight Anthem is still a young band and perhaps releasing a record like this is a bit premature, yet I'm happy to have it and it's a nice way to tide us over until the new record drops later this year. I'm sure the vaults are filled with unheard demos and songs that fans like myself will gladly snap up if they're released on a future LP. In the meantime this is a good step in the right direction.

4.5 Stars: I really liked this album, but I can see why these were the B-Sides. Some great music here, and if you're a (die hard) fan of Gaslight Anthem (like I am), you'll want to add this to your collection. But I admit, I like the A-Sides more.

I had to give this a good review, some of the songs I'd already heard from the Deluxe editions of previous albums, but "Songs for Teenagers" and "Once Upon a Time" are worth the price of admission by themselves!

If you like acoustic versions of songs this is a great cd. I love the gaslight anthem and this is another great cd by one of the best bands in a long time. The pearl Jam cover to the great expectations just awesome

I cannot believe how some people can give this album 4 or even 5 stars. There is absolutely nothing worth listening on it, maybe She Loves You. Half of the songs aren't even TGA-performances but Brian Fallon alone. These acoustic versions sound totally boring, also the recordings sound terrible, especially American Slang and The Boxer. And the cover of Pearl Jam's State of Love and Trust is the worst piece of music I have heard in a long time. And who in the world needs another cover of Tumbling Dice? I really love that band and have all of their previous albums but this album is a rippoff and sucks brutaly. To release that album was a huge mistake from the band. Hopefully it won't be the beginning of a huge sell-out.

Love the gaslight anthem, but most of these b-sides should have stayed just that. A few gems, but not enough for a whole album. Maybe an EP.

Basically Gaslight Anthem unplugged. Many of the songs have a completely different feeling to them. Stripped down and raw. Excellent.
