The Water Knife by Paolo Bacigalupi
The Water Knife by Paolo Bacigalupi
Into the chaos of a prolonged drought step Angel Velasquez—a "water knife"; Lucy Monroe, a hardened journalist; and Maria Villarosa, a young migrant, who dreams of escaping north to those places where water still falls from the sky: All three find themselves pawns in a game far bigger, more corrupt and dirtier than any of them could have imagined. From the Author

Although each book in the Safe Harbor Medical miniseries stands alone, it's fun to follow the characters. Here's the complete list from the beginning: The Would-Be Mommy, His Hired Baby, The Holiday Triplets, Officer Daddy, Falling for the Nanny, The Surgeon's Surprise Twins, The Detective's Accidental Baby, The Baby Dilemma, The M.D.'s Secret Daughter. March 2013: The Baby Jackpot. June 2013: His Baby Dream. I hope you'll also take a look at my books Yours, Mine and Ours and By Leaps and Bounds, available for Kindle.

More About the Author

Writing has always been my passion, and fortunately, I never run short of ideas. As a result, my more than ninety-five novels cover a wide array of genres, including Regency romance, science fiction, fantasy, romance, humor and mystery.

Currently, I write the Safe Harbor Medical series for Harlequin American Romance (there's a complete list of the books on my website,, and you can sign up for my mailing list there, too). Book #14, The Surprise Triplets, came out in September, 2014, followed in March 2015 by The Baby Bonanza. These are available both in paperback and in Kindle ebook editions.

In addition, an ongoing project is updating and revising some of my old favorites. It's a thrill to make these books, including a half-dozen traditional Regency romances, available for Kindle readers. A Lady's Point of View is priced at 99 cents, with the other Regencies (set in England in Jane Austen's day) at $2.99.

Please note: to my frustration, Author Central shows old, outdated covers on my ebooks. Please click on the Kindle link to see the new and vastly improved covers to these revised, updated editions!

My contemporary romantic comedies include Cindy and the Fella; Designer Genes; Calling All Glass Slippers, Yours, Mine and Ours; The Rancher's Unusual Nanny and Run, Run, Runaway Bride. Or you might enjoy my light-hearted time travel, One Husband Too Many.

Each month, I offer a different special, such as a Kindle edition for 99 cents. Details are on my website and my Facebook page, Jacquelinediamondauthor. Currently, I've bundled four complete contemporary romances under the title 4 Family Romances Book Bundle, for only $4.99. This includes A Warm December, By Leaps and Bounds, The Trouble With Terry, and Old Dreams, New Dreams, all of which include children and holidays.

I've reissued and revised my mysteries Danger Music and The Eyes of a Stranger for Kindle. Available as well are my fantasy novel Shadowlight, the supernatural mystery Echoes, my s.f./alternate history thriller Out of Her Universe, and my Gothic romantic suspense Touch Me in the Dark.

One more thing: after teaching more than a hundred writing students, I've put together an ebook called How to Write a Novel in One (Not-so-Easy) Lesson. It's a friendly, down-to-earth approach to writing your novel, your way, and only 99 cents for Kindle readers.

Happy reading!

The 8th book in the Safe Harbor Medical series.

Dr. Paige Brennan had overheard detective Mike Aaron call her an Amazon, when they were attending Dr. Nora and Leo Franco's wedding a year ago. Then every time that Mike would run into Paige, he would tease her. Paige just wanted Mike to go away. But then Mike partner and foster brother Lock was going to marry Paige's friend Erica Benford. So there was no way that she could escape seeing Mike again.

Mike and Lock had lived together, but Mike wanted to find a place to move so that when Lock and Erica returned from their honeymoon they would have the house to themselves. And, with the baby on the way, Mike didn't want to have to hear their new born cry. Mike had decided that he didn't want to be a father, so earlier that year he started donating his sperm a childless couple have a chance at parenthood. As Paige was going down the hall on the second floor where the sperm collection rooms were located, she noticed Mike Aaron looking at the bulletin board that was near the nurse's station. He had just taken a piece of paper down that Paige knew that she had put up for a new housemate.

Paige place was on the beach and she loved it, but the house next door was rented out to weekly renters though the summer. The renters would have a lot of loud parties every night, and then just up the street was a halfway house for convicted drug abusers. Paige didn't want to rent to Mike, but when her house was broken into Mike convinced Paige it would be safer if he was living there. Paige then has to tell Mike that she was pregnant; she had gone to the fertility treatments at the clinic.

Just the right fit for this beautiful series. Love the continuation of this small community. Plus being set on the beach always makes me happy.

I enjoyed the entire series of ten books. Predictable but enjoyable reading. Be sure to start with the first book in the series to really get the full benefit of the series. I would recommend the series.
