Book Description

All credit cards have stopped working. Today. This morning.

What cash you have in your wallet is it. ATMs and bank systems are down. You can’t get gas, groceries… Commerce has essentially come to a halt. Such is the backdrop of THE BACK DOOR MAN.

Our society is computercentric. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn. We’re plugged in. Managing our finances online. Downloading apps for our iPhone. Reading the WSJ on our Kindle.

There are things out there on the cutting edge we don’t even know we need to fear. THE BACK DOOR MAN takes us there.

We see it through the eyes of James Kolinsky, a simple family man who works in information security. His day goes from bad to worse when he discovers that his greatest fear is his fault and what’s happened to him has happened to millions of others.

He’s been set up. His family—make that the world—has been taken hostage. The next twenty-four hours we find out what James Kolinsky is really made of.

5.0 out of 5 stars The digital world derails. Fascinating! November 26, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I couldn't put this book down. Buschi beautifully paints a picture of how the financial backbone of our country could easily be compromised. As someone who works in IT, I found it to be very believable and very scary. As a result of reading this book, I've taken a closer look at the security of my online accounts. I have a feeling we'll be seeing more great thrillers from Buschi in coming years.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrifc book! I couldn't put it down! October 8, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I don't often write reviews, but this book really warrants it. It's been quite some time since I've been so quickly engaged in a story. Combining suspense, action and a storyline you'll fear may be a little too real for comfort; Buschi weaves a fast-paced tale that catches your attention and won't let go. I've already recommended this book to several friends and look forward to reading more from this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Back Door Man February 18, 2012

This is a great, fast and exciting read. I liked it so much I have put many of my friends on to it. It really kept your interest; so much so that I did not want to turn off my Kindle off.

It's not often that I find a fast paced book that has enough detail and character development to satisfy. The author found just the right balance for me. Not being an IT or a Financial Services pro, these were explained just enough for the reader to get the gist without boring the reader with tedium. Also a quick read, perfect for this reader. Can't wait for the author's next offering.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bravo December 7, 2011
By Mhk
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
As a financial services worker I found the plot particularly chilling--and plausible! I was amazed by the degree of detail and technical savvy author exhibited. The story kept me hooked from start to finish. It was a quick, action packed read and I was sad when the thrill ride ended! Hoping the author writes more. I strongly recommend Back Door Man. Mhk

Really glad I found this author. Can't wait for more books. Nice to see the mixture of technical/cyber vs. physical/military warfare.

3.0 out of 5 stars Slow start, and some suspension of disbelif required. August 19, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
First, it's worth reading, but perhaps only if your technically inclined.

Second, this is a techno-thriller. But it's _very_ very heavy on the tech, sometimes to the determent of the story. If you can keep working through those parts it's worth reading.

Third, Why, o why, does every male hero have to morph into Rambo? Honestly it was the wife and her fathers relationship that kept me interested, and less the husband.

Forth, that last minute left hook into mysticism? Yeah, we could have skiped that or at least tied it in earlier so it seemed planned. I don't mind mysticism in my books, but please make them a part of the universe and not a deus ex machina thrown in at the last minute.

More About the Author

I started writing to try and bring back a friend. He died in a freak accident. I was 21, just about to graduate from college. You think back then that you're going to live forever, and your life, and my buddy's, were just beginning. But that's not the way it happened.

His death for me didn't have any meaning. I wrote to bring him back for a bit. That book was healing. One last chance to hang out with him.

In the process of writing that book I discovered something. I liked writing. Scratch that. I loved writing. The creative part, the challenge, the feeling of accomplishment when you finished a book. My buddy might have been gone, but he left me with that gift.

I've been writing ever since.

Dave resides in Milton, Georgia with his wife and boys. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia and University of Florida. He is the author of the following thrillers: THE BACK DOOR MAN, PROPORTIONATE RESPONSE, and INSIDER X.
