Important Information

Safety Information
Only use The Original Backnobber II tool for its intended purpose. This product is designed for use on all large and small muscles that can be comfortably reached. Do not use The Original Backnobber II tool without a physician's consultation if (1) you recently experienced an injury or (2) suffer from a serious medical ailment or (3) are currently under a physician's or therapist's care. If you recently underwent surgery, consult your physician and/or therapist before initiating massage and exercises with The Original Backnobber II tool. 4 If bruising occurs, or if you experience residual pain, discontinue use until symptoms subside completely. Reduce the amount of pressure when resuming application. Following use, if the area is swollen or red, apply cold packs. Consult a physician if inflammation persists more than two days. Do not apply directly to the bones of the spinal column. Stretching the muscles after using The Original Backnobber II tool reduces soreness and inflammation. Remember to pay attention to the signals your body is sending you. Only apply pressure that you can comfortably tolerate. Although you may experience some soreness and discomfort after initial use, these symptoms will subside as overall health improves.

Directions
Isolate a trigger point by pressing firmly with your fingertips or The Original Backnobber II tool over a specific part of the neck, shoulders, upper, middle or lower back, buttocks or thighs. When you feel a hard knot (like a lump) or soreness, apply pressure to determine the level of tenderness in the area. Experiment to determine a tolerable level of pressure. Once you have located the trigger point and know how it feels, youre ready to begin using The Original Backnobber II tool. The Original Backnobber II tool can be hooked over the shoulder or under the arm. Apply direct, steady, pressure to the trigger point in the muscle. Pressure preferences vary widely among professionals and patients alike, but for many, pressure can be effectively applied for between 5 and 30 seconds. It often takes time for muscles to begin to "trust" the pressure, so the first 20 seconds may be a mere beginning. In general it is best to start slowly and gradually increase pressure as desired following your own best intuition and feelings. Apply pressure firmly to the affected muscle. Move along the muscle band at one-inch intervals. Stop and apply longer or deeper pressure to any knots or lumps as you work. Although almost any pressure on a muscle will usually have some releasing effect, it is best to apply pressure along the entire muscle from one end to the other, in approximately one inch intervals, and then stretch before moving onto another area. Harmony and balance between both sides of the body are vital to achieving proper posture and function. It is best to work both sides of the body, just in case any pain is referred to the other side after being "detriggered." Remember to breathe! Sit back, relax and take some deep breathes both before, during and after using The Original Backnobber II tool.

I bought this product several years ago when I walked into a Relax the Back store in Boston, MA. I've been using it since and I have sold probably half a dozen by recommending it to friends. Here are some fine points about the Backnobber 2.

It's very easy to use and the "s" shape of the design allows you to put pressure on the right spot to work on. The booklet that comes with it shows you several variations on use. I've found that by using it while lying down you can use the bed/floor as a fulcrum and your bodies own weight to apply correct amount of pressure. I've use this while sitting or standing. The product also comes apart easily into two pieces that fit nicely into a backpack. I take it between the office and home. One trick I've discovered is to shake it while you are applying pressure or rotate it so that the point of pressure moves, this is great when working with spots near your shoulder blades for the back the shaking and fulcrum work really well. The product is made of some sort of high impact plastic it is very hard and rugged and has lasted traveling in luggage and such for several years now. I highly recommend this product for everyone and would make a perfect gift as well. Try it and you'll agree that it is the best $30 you've spent in a long time!

I don't know what I would do without my Backnobber, it allows me to work the painful trigger points I get in back and neck. After just a few minutes, I feel like a new person. I take my backnobber with me when I have long trips in the car. It simply love it!

I've been wanting something that could accomplish this for some time. The two different sized "S" curves allow you to reach and apply pressure/massage all those sore spots in your back.

I was diagnosed with a chronic pain condition called Myofascial Pain Syndrome this past year. Because of a surgery I had a year ago I am unable to take any type of pain medications outside of Tylenol or narcotics. Physicial therapy was not working for my pain condition at all...in fact the therapist stopped seeing me because I was making no improvement. Trigger point therapy at the massage parlor was providing some occassional relief but at $[...] a pop not only was it expensive and not covered by insurance but if I did not do it every day then it wasn't as effective as I would like. Anyone who has this condition knows how painful it can be and how difficult it is to treat. Feeling desperate and hopeless I started searching what others with MPS were doing and this is when I stumbled upon the Backnobber II.

This thing is fantastic! Everyone I have ever let use it has enjoyed it...one woman described it as "the best thing to ever happen to me in my life." Since using it I go to the massage parlor a lot less for the trigger therapy treatments. My migraines have all but disappeared and my medication usage has gone down.

This item is very lightweight and requires almost no strength to provide the pressure/leverage needed for relief which is important because a lot of times I haven't the strength. All you do is place one of the small knobs on your sore muscle or where you have a trigger point or knot and pull down or forward. The tightness you feel just releases and then the pain goes away with it. It is very easy to use and best of all to use without any assistance in nearly any position, ie. lying down, sitting up, standing. For my shoulder and neck area this is amazing but I can also do so many other areas of the body.

This device works fine for reaching those hard to access parts of your back. Using it is simple, and if you are looking to mildy massage some stiff back muscles it does a great job. But if you apply just a little too much pressure while you are trying loosen up with some deeper massaging or pressure, then this device is apparently not engineered to handle such use. It snaps, breaking in half. It comes in two segments to begin with, and has an ok connection joint. The problem appears to be that all of the pressure gets transferred into the plastic curve, which only has a marginal limit of elasticity. The hard plastic cannot flex under too much pressure, and so it snaps.
At first I thought perhaps I had a defective unit. So, I decided to put out another $30, and buy another. It works great if it doesn't break. But, soon after, it too snapped. Now I'm out $60. Maybe I should have bought two to begin with and duct taped them together as one heavy duty unit. That might help.

Manufacturer has made good on unit by replacing it with no questions asked. I've had no problems since and can highly recommend the product/company in particular, as they were very pleasant to deal with.

This is my second Backnobber II, so I'm sold on it. My first one cracked after I apparently put too much pressure on it one too many times, so be aware that you need to not over work it.

It really helps you dig into those nasty knots and loosen up the trigger points.

Also, it collapses into two pieces, so it fits nicely into your suitcase or backpack so you can take it both on the road and to work.

If you have a back filled with knots on a regular basis, I recommend you check this out.
