5.0 out of 5 stars Great Story Without Vulgar Speech Or Intimate Scenes March 23, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You. So refreshing to read a great, exciting, griping story without all the gutter language, profanity and lurid sexual scenes. I highly recommend The Surgeon's Blade and gladly give it a five star rating.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Read - The Surgeon's Blade February 22, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
How do you know when you’ve got a good book on your hands? Answer: you can’t put it down!

That was my experience while reading “The Surgeon’s Blade,” a psychological mystery/thriller by author Faith Mortimer.

It didn’t take long for me to become caught up in Ms. Mortimer’s book. From the start, the story’s quick pacing grabbed my attention and then refused to relinquish it. I stayed up into the wee hours of the morning, unwilling to put the book aside. I had to know the answer to the question that every engaging author teases us with: what happens next?

Indeed. Bleary-eyed and tired, I kept promising myself I would close the book after just one more chapter… and, then, just one more. Finally, better judgment prevailed (and the knowledge that a 5:30 a.m. wake-up call comes mighty early), and I forced myself to lay the book aside until the next day. That was no easy feat – Ms. Mortimer accomplished the aim of all good authors: she had the reader hooked.

“The Surgeon’s Blade” concerns the plight of Libby, a young nurse working at a hospital in Southampton, England. We soon learn that someone with deadly intentions is preying upon nurses at Libby’s hospital and that Libby may be next on the stalker’s list of victims.

Also employed at the hospital is Nigel, the brilliant, enigmatic surgeon Libby is dating. Something is not quite right with Nigel. He is secretive and controlling, and we see these qualities come especially into play after Libby is injured during a yachting race. With casual disregard, Nigel continues on with the race while the unconscious Libby is airlifted for treatment at the hospital in which she is employed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another winner from Faith February 18, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I have yet to be disappointed by this author and this by no means changed that opinion. I was hooked from the start. I fell for all the red-herrings. It never occurred to me, once, who the villain was. I enjoyed every word and it's not often I say that. Not sure when I'll get around to them, but more books by Faith Mortimer and definitely on my To REad list. Well done, Faith.

5.0 out of 5 stars Keeps you guessing until the end. February 17, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
One of the many talents of a great mystery writer is being able to keep you guessing until the very end. A writer who creates the desire within the reader to keep turning pages. This is what Faith Mortimer has done with "The Surgeon's Blade." You will be surprised at the outcome as was I. A great read. None of the profanity nor lewdness so often inserted in other books, Faith Mortimer uses her talent to leave you with the knowledge of what transpired without having to hit you in the face, as it were, with the obvious. Besides, it's the mystery we are looking to solve. Faith Mortimer produces just that here, a mystery, entangled with love and a narcissistic surgeon under the spell of his own ego and perhaps something else.

5.0 out of 5 stars Looking Forward to 1&2 in the series July 29, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is my first book by this author. I am a die hard mystery thriller reader add the fact that I am a nurse and I was SOLD on everything about this book. The characters are very well written and the author makes you want to jump in and just tell the main character what the heck is going on ..lol.... This may have been my first but definately not my last. Thank You!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another excellent thriller from Faith January 2, 2012
By Beeshon
Format:Kindle Edition
I have said this twice before when reviewing Faith's books, and I will say it again, because the compliment is warranted all the more. There is no doubt that Faith is well on the way to becoming the 21st century Agatha Christie. Christie's Hercule Poirot and Miss Jane Marple will live on for many years; look out for Diana Rivers who will be making her name as a modern-day, fictional amateur sleuth. She appears in two of Faith's books as well as this one and this is one more mystery for her to solve.

Pretty blonde nurses are going missing and being stalked in two hospitals - in London and in Southampton.....

Libby Hunter is a pretty blonde nursing sister working in a Southampton hospital - a perfect employment location to pursue her love of sailing. Not only does she get to sail in prestigious yacht races, but she can indulge her passion in the sport with her new yacht-owner boyfriend, Nigel, a prominent, successful, wealthy, good-looking and eligible surgeon. However, a head injury sustained during a race on Nigel's boat gives Libby two dilemmas - temporary amnesia and an attraction to the helicopter rescue pilot who transports her to hospital for treatment.

As Libby's memory gradually recovers, she becomes confused by Nigel's behaviour and actions and by her feelings towards her hero pilot whose support is becoming invaluable. If that wasn't enough, she is further unsettled by an intruder into her home one evening - worrying because nothing was stolen or disturbed.......in the meantime, the hospital stalker is stepping up a gear....or two....

This is a page-turner that keeps you on your toes. Why does Nigel keep disappearing to his London flat? Why is his ex-wife there?
