If you're tired of the same ol' country sound, you need look no further than The Band Perry to find something new. The sibling trio brings a freshness to the country music scene that I haven't truly appreciated since I first heard Jamey Johnson and Miranda Lambert. Simply put this is an incredible example of original music. The strongest track is by far one of the most sad songs released in several years. If "If I Die Young" doesn't give you goose bumps, you should probably check your pulse. It's heartwrenching. Listening to this CD will most likely make you cry, laugh and dance. To me, that's a CD worth buying! I believe The Band Perry will be around for a very long time.

This band just floored me. I mean they are absolutely jaw-dropping, consciousness-changing awesome. When I first heard "If I Die Young" I was driving to work and had to stop to compose myself - me, who scored 17 out of 80 on the empathy test. Still can't hear it without welling up.

And there's not a bad track here. Wonderful, poetic lyrics with sometimes startlingly fresh images, and yet not a four letter word to be found - are you listening, Katy Perry, etc.? "You lie like a penny in the parking lot at the grocery store", "I'm as green as the ring on my little cold finger", "Walk me by the Ferris wheel and make sure that she sees", "When I first laid eyes on you/well, the night just felt so odd/You looked at me and the stars lined up/so I thought I'd heard from God" - I could go on. Funny, sassy, thought-provoking, touching words. Kimberly has, simply, an angel's voice and flawless phrasing. They have the kind of harmonies you can only get with family. All with just-right instrumentals and appropriately driving rhythms.

Most of us have to work and practice, practice, practice to make good music. These Perrys seem to be the other sort, who have music in their DNA, or in the water. They just get it somehow. I'm glad they chose to share with the rest of us.

The Band Perry

Wow. Wow. Wow. Just wow. I haven't been this excited about a new artist for several years. I rarely buy CD's anymore because of a (usually) inferior product at an inflated price. The record companies killed the CD because of their greed and mismanagement, but I digress. This is one of those rare CD's that amazes you from the beginning of track one until the end of the final track. It has happy songs and sad songs. The creativity, talent, vocal harmony, and instrumentation of this band should mean that they will be around a good long time. I thought it was ironic that their dad's name is the same as the vocalist for one of the greatest bands of the 80's: Steve Perry, meaning that that should be a harbinger of good things to come. Looking forward to their next CD already. 'If I Die Young', though I love the song, is hard to listen to, having lost my 20 year old stepdaughter to a car wreck back in May. The sharp knife of a short life, indeed.

After discovering the video on Youtube, IF I DIE YOUNG I wasn't sure if I liked the song or not, let alone Kimberly's' voice. The next time it popped up, I was drawn to it and gave it another try. And another, and another, and before long I decided I really liked it, along with Kimberly's unique voice. Not able to get enough of this great song, I just had to purchase it from itunes.

I later started watching/listening to HIP TO MY HEART, and once again wasn't too sure what I thought about it. This time it didn't take me long to decided I like it, too. Only problem was, I couldn't seem to get enough of it.

With a quick search, I discovered they were releasing a new CD in October. Okay, I'll wait to purchase another song off of itunes. Patience. Patience. I must say it was worth the wait. What a great CD. Love all the songs! Music and lyrics. I love everything about them.

This is a spectacular debut, some of the most honest, authentic, even grieving music I've heard in a while. Kimberly Perry even reminds me a little of Patty Loveless, my favorite country singer. The vocals, the lyrics, and the music add up to brilliant young artists. I'm more excited about them than any new artist in a long time.

The band walks the tightrope between melodic new country-pop and more traditional country and pull it off. "Hip to my Heart" is modern, "You Lie" reminds me of Miranda Lambert, and "If I Die Young" is unbelievable by artists so young. Kimberly is wailing and aching, yet comfortable in her range. It's the sincerity not the vocal prowess that makes this record. All the same though, I prefer her voice to Taylor Swift or Kellie Pickler.

While I relish their innocence, I can't wait for this band to mature as well. Kim will become more polished and add depth, and the brothers will tighten their sound also, maybe add more harmony. Also, while I can't get enough of the CD, I'll echo one reviewer on the brothers' haircuts. Is this some marketing attempt or do they really think that looking like David Cassidy during his Partridge family fame looks good?

By nature, I'm an Old-School Rocker with an alternative bend, and my country music collection consists of Ronnie Milsaps Greatest Hits (Vol. I & II), Faith Hill's debut album, and now, The Band Perry. They're like a breath of fresh air that has given new life to a stagnant musical genre. Give them a try, you wont be disappointed!

If you love country music you will love this cd. I put it in my cd player all the time and i can not get enough of it. They are very talented.

I never write reviews but I feel the need to encourage the rest of the world to listen to this band. The album is excellent. It is well-written and executed from top to bottom. Kimberly Perry's voice is such a lovely mix of sweet and salty. There isn't really one song that sums up the entire album because each track brings something unique. Give The Band Perry a chance! You won't regret it.

The Best Country CD I've ever heard. I'm not even kidding you.. Well worth the $8.00 and I listened to it 8 times the day I bought it.. It's addicting! The Band Perry did an amazing job on their first album.

I love the song If I die young, I want to buy their cd as soon as I can. This is coming from a girl that mostly listens to Rock.
