OK, if you have: the 2 volumes of Sarah Eames and the Ultimate Barbie Book, then you don't need this book. It is nice in a way that fashions are presented on dolls and the dolls are presented by themeselves and described. Also the prices for the individual items are listed (and they are close to ebay prices / and prices I have heard from other collectors). Yet like the other buyer said close ups are blurry and some fashions have no pictures. I didn't find the picture's backgrounds distracting, but that is a matter of opinion. If you have the books listed above don't waste the money this one is worth. I have found several errors, mostly on the names and some acceosries, but nothing really big. I found it to be nice and I am glad I bought it, but if you are tight on money and you just want a good, easy, compact, fast, reference book get the other 3 better, with the money left you can buy some barbies!

I'm one of those collectors with every Barbie book possible. Until the introduction of The Barbie Closet, I was always fumbling through all my books to locate information, and prices on vintage Barbie dolls, and that of her fashions and accessories. Lugging a half a dozen books to shows and conventions was always such a pain. Not any more though. Because now, all I have to carry is The Barbie Closet. This book is my Barbie bible. I carry it to Barbie shows, club meetings, and conventions. It has been such a help to me in quickly identifing information, and prices. I love this book, and I love that it has prices for all the little accessories as well as for the clothing, and dolls. This book has been a tremendous help to me.

I was astounded at all the helpful information in this book. If you are looking for a guide loaded with prices, facts, and great photos for identification of Barbie, her family, friends, clothing, and fashion accessories you just have to get The Barbie Closet. I was also surprised to see that all the accessories, clothing, and dolls are individually priced. This is such a great help to collectors. Never removed from box, and mint and complete prices have also been included. This book has so much helpful information for collectors. This is by far the best Barbie book I have in my extensive library of Barbie books. I refer to it all the time. I also appreciate the author including such great photos to aid in identification. The Barbie Closet has all the right ingredients needed to make a great guide for collectors, and the only Barbie price guide of its kind.

I have been a collector of Barbie, her friends, and all their fun accessories for over 20 years. I have a sound business in buying and selling Barbie and all the stuff that has gone with her over the years. Since I am in the business, I find it necessary to have a variety of books on the subject of Barbie and her world. I have not found a more helpful book in regards to Barbie's many accessories than THE BARBIE CLOSET. This author managed to find and photo many rare accessories. I was not even aware that some of them existed. The prices given are good averages, not too high or low. The photos have made my life a lot easier. Thank you to Patricia Long. Looking forward to your next book!

Money better spent buying Sarah Eames' Barbie Fashion books. This one added nothing and fell short in some respects. Photographs are often poor and close-ups blurry and grainy. Some things had no pictures, just a name and list of items. There are also some errors. And, I realize this is a matter of opinion, but the dolls seemed ackwardly posed in many photos, which is distracting for a reference book. Sorry I couldn't rate it better.

HALL OF FAMEon April 8, 2000
Brand new, 352 page book loaded with more than 750 full color, sharp photos with prices for over 4,000 accessories of every kind! 12 complete chapters cover 1959 to 1970. Barbie facts are presented, along with pictures showing how Barbie changed over each of the years. Info is provided on individual Barbie items such as purses, shoes, jewelry, pets, gloves, pictures, guitars, pot holders, cotton candy, books, checkers, and many more items. A great reference book that Barbie fans will enjoy for years to come.

I love the pictures and the wonderful way the dolls are posed -- some of the shots are good enough that they look like they're alive! Other pictures are a little darker, but overall the photography is good.
The only complaint I have is that the book has some annoying little errors -- like "Gold Rush" is listed as a Skipper outfit! And the misspellings like "bow" for "beau" detract a little from the professional image.
But these errors are relatively minor and overall this is a good book to have to identify some of the more difficult-to-find outfits and accessories!

This has to be the best book on Barbie yet! Has photos of outfits with their accessories. Author uses actual facts, not opinions, as in other books. You will be entertained for hours on end. Book gives values, and mostly accurate.
If you are a vintage collector, THIS is the book for you! Treat yourself, and purchase this book, you won't be disappointed!

KUDOS TO WRITER PATRICIA LONG! THIS IS THE BEST BARBIE ACCESSORY BOOK THAT I HAVE HAD THE PLEASURE OF READING. I AM A BARBIE COLLECTOR FROM SOUTH CAROLINA. I'M PRETTY WELL INFORMED ON MOST TOPICS WHEN IT COMES TO BARBIE. I WAS AMAZED BY HOW MUCH I WAS ABLE TO LEARN FROM THE BARBIE CLOSET. THE PHOTOS ARE WONDERFUL. I HIGHLY RECCOMEND THIS BOOK.

This is the ultimate book for those of us who love Vintage Barbie, but had a hard time putting outfits together. I never get tired of looking at it and identifying my lastest yard sale treasure!!
