Book Description

Product Description

The Bathroom Chemist is such a useful guide for creating your own health and beauty products. We even came out with a DVD! It is a great 2 hour video. Back to the book, the table of contents breaks many toiletries down into several main easy to understand groups, such as the powder family, the soap family, the balm family and the perfume family.

One of our many favorites of this book happens to be the Vanilla Bath Bombs, along with Bath Tea's that are so easy to make and completely luxurious to use! Stores charge outrageously more when you can create the same quality products, if not better! The Bathroom Chemist also covers the Salt Family, Lotion Family, and just about anything you may find in a bathroom. It contains tons of recipes for bath salts, bubble bath, bath oils, the new soaps that look like real gem stones. Other favorite formulas of The Bathroom Chemist include: Rose Hand Creme', Gardener's Hand Creme', the old fashioned Soap on a Rope, Body Butters, and Alum Natural Deodorant to name a few.

Also very popular in The Bathroom Chemist book is detailed instruction on how to make gem soaps, as shown on the left. Let your imagination soar! Both books contain the best ideas to create items perfect for gift baskets! You save money while creating the most natural products for your family and friends. This book prints out about 94 very nicely laid out instructional pages. Copyright Mabel White Dot Com 2002. 5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Guide March 17, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
In search of ways to save myself money, I have recently become interested in making my own health and beauty products. When I first started making my own health and beauty items, I was running blind and I read several books that were of no use at all in helping me to create products I would actually want to touch my skin. Thankfully, I recently discovered Mable White's series of books which cover how to make your own bathroom products. This is the second book from this series which I have read and it perfectly complements Mabel White's book "The Self Apothecary: Making Your Own Skin Care Products" in offering further recipes and ideas for me to try out in my free time. I specifically enjoyed the recipes for bath bombs which my children and I adore. I used to pay a fortune for bath bombs from Lush and Bath & Body Works but now I can create them myself with little effort and at a much more affordable price. I highly recommend this book and others in this series to anyone interested in making their own personalized bathroom products and to anyone interested in saving themselves a lot of money. A+

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Family Favorite We Use Over and Over Again October 4, 2003
Format:Spiral-bound
Just a note to let you know how Deborah know how pleased I was with the book of recipes for making my own bath products..and other Mabel White recipes I have used. I have used my book over and over and made gift baskets for family members and friends for special occasions. Anyone can use the easy to follow
recipes and end up with fantastic gift items. We make our own "spa" baskets for ourselves as well as our friends in the RV crowd......keep up the good work!! God Bless..Christine Mead

4.0 out of 5 stars title misleading... October 26, 2004
By tadpole
Format:Spiral-bound
When I ordered this book I eagerly awaited its arrival only to be disappointed when I read it. It is not really what I expected from the title and reviews. I thought the information would be a little more in-depth.

It is not a bad book but has several weaknesses:

The few soap recipes are melt and pour or rebatch, nothing too exciting or new. All the lotion recipes require the use of the author's product "Emulsoy." (The author does not provide a list of ingredient suppliers but promotes her own line of ingredients and supplies throughout the book.)

In spite of the name, most of the recipes are very, very simple yet some assume prior knowledge of aromatherapy. For instance, in the brief section on perfume formulas, you're told to divide the essential oils evenly between top, middle and base notes. A novice (which this book seems to be generally directed at) would not know which essential oils fall into which category without buying another book or doing more research. The author makes extensive use of essential oils, but gives next to no information on the therapeutic effects of any essential oil. Again, one would need to purchase another book to learn this info.

I did like the information on preservatives verses antioxidants. The author also gives clear directions on the actually mixing of the formulas. While most of the recipes are similar to what can be found elsewhere, the book does have some fun recipes like dipping silk rose petals in melt and pour soap for 'soap petals.'

If your looking for someone else's simple recipes to follow for fun and aren't interested in knowing more, I would certainly recommend this book for that. However, I think some of the info presented is incomplete and the book is overpriced for what it is.
