Not real "butcher" cover,
By MsReadalot (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Beatles Yesterday and Today (Vinyl)
I am old enough to have bought these covers fresh off the rack--I have one "In the Chest covers" There Is NO seal-
First-there is no seal Second-In the Stone age, Before Collectibles, as soon as we heard there was a "Cover under A Cover" we all went and gently steamed the second cover off-and Voila! Beatles with butchered baby dolls. Unfortunately, I didn't have one but my best friends sister did (dang) but back then it wasn't a big deal! She just stuffed in with all the other albums. So I would be VERY careful about this! The only way to tell-seriously, used to be with an x-ray. I DON'T believe an authentic one would sell for so cheap. Unless you really, really, for real need a couple hundred bucks. There just wasn't that many. Even the fact that Yesterday and Today the Chest cover is selling shows The Beatles complete AWsomeness.

The Beatles Yesterday And Today,

Purchased by me for its "great collectors showcase status and rarity," 'The Beatles Yesterday and Today' plastic sleeved album cover art [with vinyl album, and, original 'Capitol Records' paper insert protective sleeve], has been nonchalantly placed on a card table in my office; just casually lying there for affectionate glances; for those who can appreciate its rarity and date of production; taking them back, to a very layered but innocent time, into the past. Even though the overall product, in my opinion, was in "less than good condition, but playable," the aged look of the clear jacket sleeve and the album jacket art, faded and "browned" largely around the outer two-and-a-half inches on both sides of the jacket, along with a serious circular black dirt mark (which appears only on the backside of the jacket), offers a presentation that comes off like a nice perk; like an antique, without any refurbishment - which makes it more authentic and therefore more desirable. The shipment was received in a timely manner, and I am very pleased with the seller.

I bought this album for like $13 then later saw a guy on eBay trying to sell the same one for $9,000. Apparently he didn't know what the banned cover looked like

CAPITOL's "butchered" album,
By
This review is from: The Beatles Yesterday and Today (Vinyl)
As already noted, the album pictured here is NOT a paste-over butcher cover.
Released in June of 1966 and clocking in at a typical 27:33, YESTERDAY AND TODAY is the 10th CAPITOL-issued Beatles album. Early pressings of this cobbled-together set are of interest for three tracks ("Dr. Robert," "And Your Bird Can Sing" and "I'm Only Sleeping") that CAPITOL rechanneled into "Duophonic" sound. This heavy-handed fake stereo process adds severe compression and echo to monaural recordings-- the overall effect is that of a wind tunnel. These three tampered-with songs are only available on this particular LP. Originally titled "Yesterday"... and Today, the record is comprised of a Dec. '65 single (Day Tripper/We Can Work It Out), plus songs inexplicably excised by CAPITOL from American releases of three LPs. These are: HELP! -- "Act Naturally" and "Yesterday" RUBBER SOUL -- "Drive My Car," "Nowhere Man," "What Goes On" and "If I Needed Someone" REVOLVER -- The three previously mentioned rechanneled titles (note that "Revolver" hadn't yet been released when this LP hit the market) Related item-- THE BEATLES AGAIN - HEY JUDE (released 2/70) is another example of a pieced-together album of 10 excellent tracks from the years 1964 to '69. Cover photos were taken at the last-ever band photo shoot. "Yesterday and Today" TRACK LISTING-- SIDE ONE: [2:30] Drive My Car [3:01] I'm Only Sleeping [2:45] Nowhere Man [2:15] Doctor Robert [2:08] Yesterday [2:33] Act Naturally SIDE TWO: [2:01] And Your Bird Can Sing [2:24] If I Needed Someone [2:15] We Can Work It Out [2:51] What Goes On [2:50] Day Tripper

This Album ahh yes the butcher cover thing unless you have some serious cash you probably won't be able to get one. they were only produced in the 60's and they're very rare at that. but if just want a comp of beatles songs that were left off america releases of rubber soul and revolver albums and singles they put out. as can remember the list of songs on the album are Nowhere Man , What goes on? Doctor Robert, If i needed someone, I'm only Sleeping etc. anyway you get the idea, it a good listen.
