5.0 out of 5 stars Oh So Cute June 1, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
For such a small little book, The Bee Who Was Different, has a big message. I was cheered up and inspired by reading about the little bee who was not like everyone else. It would be a great book to read to a child who is handicapped however, since we are all different, it would encourage any child to feel that they are significant and have a purpose.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Bee whom Was Different December 1, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Good story but needs a bit more animation. Not bad for free though with Prime membership. I'll borrow a longer book next time.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good Message, Unpolished Presentation November 27, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The message is clear and solid, but the narrative is mediocre and is not likely to draw children in or be memorable for them. The pages are bland with no scenery and only canned, CG bees.

It never cease to amaze me how Kurt Zimmerman can put such an amazing message in a book meant for a young audience. A great message and a great read! Looking forward to more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Be brave August 17, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The Bee Who Was Different by Kurt Zimmerman is a terrific book! Beautiful drawings. I will be recommending this book to friends.
Barry the bee is different. He was born unable to walk and is in a wheelchair. Barry learns that he is capable of doing great things just by being brave.

My one year old loved this book. She was mesmerized by the simple pictures and the story inspired a discussion among my older kids about differences and disabilities.

I've come across a few Kindle picture books illustrated by Julien Tromeur written by various authors. Kurt Zimmerman's as good as any of the other authors, in fact I'd say he's probably better, but like with all those other authors it's Tromeur's computer generated imagery that take the book to an even higher level.

This one's basically about a bee named Barry who can't fly due to a disability he's had since birth so is confined to a wheel chair and sadly misses out when his friends fly away to play. However one day the hive is under attack, it will be up to Barry to save the day. It's probably not the most realistic ending, being that when bees to do what Barry does in real life they die but it is a kid's story after all. Brilliant illustrations along with the story will probably teach kids the value of inclusion of everyone when making plans and to take into account their needs. If there is a child with a disability that they know this book would probably stimulate conversation in that area.

I liked the plot, story line and characters as well as the illustrations! Very colorful and well done that I think helps tell the story as well!
I recommend this book to especially the kids who would think of being a bully to those who are different than themselves as well as
for those who find them selves

3.0 out of 5 stars Basic but inspirational
I'm now anxious to share with my daughter's ages 5 and 8 to learn their thoughts. It was a bit basic for me to get too excited, but it is a nice premise.
