I'd first like to comment that I'm so happy that real musicians are now moving to the forefront of what is happening in the music front. Singer/Songwriters with REAL talent are starting to enjoy some success as of late and I for one couldn't be more excited.

Let's talk about The Belle Brigade. They are fantastic, nuanced, and filled with freshman energy. You can almost feel how happy they are to be making music on every track on this download/CD. Sweet Louise is a very strong track to lead off with and it shows off the talents of the band right away. Easing you into the mood of the album and prepping you for what is to come. Loser, the first single of the record, though where it's playing I don't know, is a real piece of work. A song that's great to listen to and has a message. (sorry if you don't like that)

The way this band harmonizes kills me and I think that ANYONE who likes REAL music will find something on this album. If you know what Daytrotter is look up their session there for a free download. Tracks from this album done acoustically with a REALLY cool intro song.

This is my first review so don't be harsh, buy The Belle Brigade...

This album rocks! Just saw The Belle Brigade at the House of Blues and couldn't wait for their album to come out. They are INCREDIBLE live, unlike so many groups you may like, but take away the production and they fall flat...not these guys! Their harmony and musicianship is just as good live, if not better, because you can see and feel the emotion their music is coming from. Check them out...it's good stuff!!

I took my wife to a KD Lang concert that I was only mildly interested in. The Belle Brigade was the opening band. THEY WERE AMAZING!! The harmonies generated by this brother-sister team who have been singing and harmonizing together all their lives is amazing. Some of there songs have a nearly Beatles like harmonization, it's amazing. They compose all their own work, which of course is all original. I have VERY FEW CDs by bands that are not from the 60s and 70s, very few, but when I heard them live in concert, what a treat, I knew I had to buy their CD, and when the next one comes out, I'll buy that too. Anyone who loves music should get this CD.

I wish I could give this album even more stars!

The Belle Brigade's debut album is a pure joy, filled with lush harmonies, raw emotion, terrific instrumentation, clever hooks and a really interesting, often offbeat way of composing melodies. In the space of one album they have become one of my favorite groups in a decade.

The brother and sister team of Ethan and Barbara Gruska come from a musically rich background: their grandfather is none other than multiple Oscar winner John Williams, uber-composer of practically every great soundtrack over the last 45 years. Their father, too, is a film composer, and other members of their family are equally talented.

Both play guitar and provide vocals, and Ethan plays piano as well. Not to diminish any of their multiple talents, but it is of particular note that Barbara is their drummer--when the moment is right, she can be a buzzsaw, her hands a blur as she switches from skin to skin...catch their performances on YouTube. It's something to see.

While the duo provided a song ("I Didn't Mean It") for "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) [Deluxe], it is this album which really provides us with their best showcase. Song by song, this album shines. brilliantly...

Beginning with "Sweet Louise," a fun, colorful pastiche that demonstrates a harmonic style much like the Everly Brothers, the two share the lyrics through a back-and-forth lead change that tells the world "I just fell in love." The punchy up-style tempo belies what could have been a bitter song, as one look in their love's eyes made it clear their love was not returned. Self-pity?

I am pretty selective. I prefer a lot of older and established artists or songwriters but I do stay open to the new ones. I heard them on Sirius XM. Loved "Losers." Previewed it and bought album. Would have to say that hands down this was the most played album of 2011 for me.
Kind of stuff I usually listen to: Bob Dylan. Beatles. Smashing Pumpkins. Alice In Chains. Elvis Costello. Lou Reed. Lucinda Williams. Waylon, Merle. Kinks.
Why I like these guys: They have the songwriting and harmony styles of the Eagles and FleetWood Mac. But they are not The Eagles or FleetWood Mac.
They are lyrically honest and on point and insightful.
Despite their influences they are highly original and seem to be doing whatever the hell they want and how they want to do it.
They are able to sound pretty without...Well, sounding pretty.
How many new artists can actually write a song. I don't mean play their instruments with skill. I don't mean write pretty poetry. I don't mean sound and look contemporary. I mean actually write a song with a hook and a melody? Not many. This album is a collection of catchy well written songs. And they seem to be a band of integrity and some kind of depth. Congratulations to The Belle Brigade!
