About the Author

Stan and Jan Berenstain were already successful cartoonists for magazines and adult humor books when they began writing children's books. The first story starring the bear family, The Big Honey Hunt, appeared in 1962. Since then, more than 370 Berenstain Bears books have been published, and more than 300 million copies have been sold. What began as an idea sparked by their young sons' love of reading has become over the years arguably the best-selling children's book series ever.

Since their inception, the Berenstain Bears stories have expanded to include picture books, beginning readers, and chapter books--even a hit TV show on PBS. Writing and illustrating the books has become a Berenstain family affair. Mike joined with his parents as a creative team in the late 1980s. The Bear family has expanded over the years as well. Sister Bear arrived in 1974, and baby Honey joined the family in 2000.

Though Stan died in 2005 and Jan in 2012, Mike continues to create the delightful Berenstain Bear adventures from his studio in Pennsylvania.

Stan & Jan Berenstain began writing the Berenstain Bears series in 1962, with The Big Honey Hunt. Since then, more than 250 Berenstain Bears books have been published and sales of the series have exceeded 260 million copies. Stan and Jan have left behind a legacy of arguably the best-selling children's book series ever. Making the books has long been a family affair, with son Mike writing and illustrating new stories about everyone's favorite Bear family.

the stories are the following:
The B Bear's new pup
The B Bears and the trouble with chores
The B Bears and the wishing star
The B Bears and too much car trip
The B Bears' seashore treasure
The B Bears sick days.

As for us we like the stories, but i'm quite annoyed that the cubs are called "Sister" and "Brother". As if it was a problem to come up with some names. "i'm afraid you may have a fever, Sister," said Mama.....

The Berenstein Bears Series was a favorite for my children. I am so glad that the Berenstein Children have decided to keep it going since their parents have died. I always enjoyed reading these books. Consideration, good manners, handling normal childhood matters in a kind, yet realistic way. I guess it helped that our family structure followed the Berensteins- Boy, Girl, Boy. They always got discussions going. Putting a few of the books together in a hardbound book was an excellent idea.

The Berenstain Bears Storybook Treasury is a treasure. I am so pleased with this hardcover book. My daughter loves the Berenstain Bears books. To have this collection of stories in one book is so nice. This book will be a keepsake of our reading time together. Very sturdy book, the pages have some thickness to them so they won't rip easily. A great selection of 6 stories. I recommend this book!

This assembles six good Berenstain Bear books. One serious limitation to the collection is that three of those books are the shorter, simpler "rectangular" stories intended for beginning readers, while the other three are exactly what one would expect looking at the book's cover: the more complex "square" stories that are written with greater detail and complexity and are intended for parents to read to their children. In terms of printing, this leads several of the stories to have solid color bars along the margins to fill the empty space to the left and right of the un-re-formatted rectangular stories; in terms of content, it seems to me it would have been better (though less profitable) for this edition to include six of the more complex stories and to restrict the rectangular beginner books to another selected edition (as is the case with the "Big Book of Berenstain Bears Beginner Books").

My daughter asks for this book almost every night. The bears are super cute, the stories have morals, and my 3 1/2 year old loves it.

This isn't a board book, but is pretty darn sturdy for a "regular" hardbacked book, and has stood up to a bit of abuse from my kiddo.

This one was well worth the purchase price for us.

I grew up with the Berenstein Bears books and absolutely loved them. As a kid I always wished I could live in their tree house :) This collection is perfect since you have several books all in one place. My kids love these books and they all have a moral lesson. These stories are timeless.

The five stories in this book are fine and my young daughter loves them. I was disappointed that the images don't take up the whole page, but that there are large grey margins. The entire book could have been smaller than what it is.

My 3-year-old daughter loves these because they have "Baby Honey Bear" and she loves babies. These are newer stories, not the classics, but still enjoyable reads for the pre-school to early elementary set.
