Falling somewhere between Ohio Players and Earth, Wind & Fire, funk band, Con Funk Shun hit with a diverse blend of pop, disco, funk and soul. A groovy guitar lick introduces the party tune "Ffun" including a bright horn section carefully arranged displays the bands driven soul. The ride on "Love's Train" shows Con Funk Shun's diversity, as this swinging ballad changed atmospheres with its smooth bridges for a classic feel. Not as powerful, yet moving "Baby I'm Hooked (Right Into Your Love)" has more a simple R&B chords and arrangement. On "Shake Me And Dance With Me" the bands range is tested by utilizing different genre's textures to create a pop groove as the more so disco "Got To Be Enough". "Got To Be Enough" adds exotic instruments to add the upbeat for times under the hanging reflecting ball from the ceiling with strobe lights as said in the hook "...think about it..." The hard edge ballad "(Let Me Put) Love On Your Mind" has the elements to broaden the group with its rock driven electric guitar. With such tunes as "Too Tight" and "Ms. Got-The-Body" has the feel of Friday night at the popular roller rink showing off moves. As the group eclipse on the quiet storm rhythms on "Make It Last" leaves a lasting impression. It could also lead to an evening of heartfelt 'music' being made as this compiled compilation is topped off by the love song "Straight From The Heart". Con Funk Shun may not be remembered as some of its counterparts of their time but embraces eternity. This is what music is intended to do!

Ladies and Gentlemen, from the East Bay, Vallejo California we present Con Funk Shun. One of the better funk dance music bands in the early 80's, with a good combination of funk and dance. Not as funky as George Clinton and Parliment, and not as danceable as disco, but nevertheless a great combination without being too funky. You can kick back and listen to it, or get out and boogie.

"Got to Get Enough" was one of the bigger singles off this album and one of my favorites. You haffta to get up and dance to that.

One of the unfortunate truisms regarding the music biz is that talent alone does not always get you to the top.CFS is FAR and away the better of many "funk" also rans but never quite earned the Marquee status it deserved.Maybe its sound was too reminiscent of EWF.

This CD is simply the best that R&B has to offer. I do like todays music but the difference of the sound from a band than from computers & synthezisers is the trud difference between music of toay and old school classics.
Speaking of old school classics, just about every cut on this CD is a classic. There plenty of dance music and some chill cuts as well. This CD just does not disappoint and is great from beginning to end. I was" fennin" for this, could not find my old one so I had to buy it again.

I love these songs. They took back to a very special time period. Love, love, love the music. Old School all the way.

I heard "Love's Train" on an XM station and just had to find out the name of the group. I have a long-time friend who remembers this group and had a good laugh when I pronounced the name with three distinct words instead of "Confunkshun". This is funk at it's very best; the slower songs are good but the fast ones are outstanding and you absolutely cannot sit still when you listen. I ordered one for me and one for my friend, but I am about to order a couple of more for other friends. I have to share this music! You just don't hear this quality being made today; the lyrics and harmony are great, the beats are out of sight, and the instrumentation is phenomenal!

I'm not the best reviewer but I bought the Con Funk Shun cd because of the ballad Love's Train. The ballad Straight From the Heart is awesome! I was young when that song came out. It made me want to experience what love is. Felton Pilate's tenor voice sounds so beautiful! It kind of reminds me of the Temptations' Eddie Kendricks. I really love those songs! The uptempo songs like Chase Me are good as well.
