Editorial Reviews

The 20th Century Masters series is the best-selling single-artist line in music history and is being re-released by Universal Music Enterprises (UMe) in its ground-breaking, environmentally-friendly packaging format. A first for the music industry, the standard package (both sleeve and tray) will be completely paper-recyclable, continuing the company's long-standing commitment to being "green."

To further reduce the amount of paper in the Eco-Pack, the CD booklet will no longer be offered. Official liner notes are easily accessible on the Internet at http://www.ilovethatsong.com/green.

UMe is the first North American music company to replace the traditional jewel case with recycled paperboard sleeves and the plastic tray with trays made from PaperFoam®, a new packaging technology from Shorewood Packaging, a business of International Paper, that is paper-recyclable and biodegradable. Shorewood Packaging is the first North American packaging supplier to produce disc trays from PaperFoam®.

Any fan who appreciates the Everly Brothers has to have
this album. The remastered sound is superb of course, but
the deciding factor on this one should be the inclusion
of their last hit, after more than 20 years had passed since
their previous one.
After the team reunited, one of their biggest fans wrote
a song especially for them. Paul McCartney wrote "Wings of
a Nightingale" for them, and it is a truly beautiful song
that displays their harmony at its best, and the song is
not usually found on other collections.
Get the best of all their classic early hits, plus this
last hit.
A must have for any fan.

20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection: The Best of the Everly Brothers is a budget priced album geared toward the casual fan who just wants a small sampling of what these guys could really do! The sound quality is quite good and the artwork is about par for this CD series.

The CD starts off with The Everly Brothers doing great on "Bye Bye Love;" this was one of their greatest early rock and roll hits ever and it's no wonder why! They sing wonderfully; and the guitar arrangement sounds just perfect. They handle the tempo changes very well and I always enjoy "Bye Bye Love" even though it's a melancholy song! "Wake Up Little Susie" is a peppy little ballad that gets the royal treatment from The Everly Brothers; they sing wonderfully of how their late night date lasted a bit longer than they promised her parents it would. Again, the guitar work on "Wake Up Little Susie" is truly excellent.

"All I Have To Do Is Dream" features the brothers performing beautifully on a more romantic, slow dance ballad and they never miss a beat! The Everly brothers had great sets of pipes and this number proves it! "Devoted To You" is another love song with a slow tempo that is perfect for dancing with your sweetheart late at night all alone in your living room. Great!

"Let It Be Me" showcases The Everly Brothers singing so sweetly of love and a love they have for their girlfriends; they harmonize to perfection and the strings work well for "Let It be Me." "Cathy's Clown" is another highlight of this album; The Everly Brothers deliver this with panache and I am very impressed! "Cathy's Clown" is a very solid number.

The album ends with The Everly Brothers performing what sounds like a more recent ballad entitled "On The Wings Of A Nightingale.

Treat yourself to the sweet harmonies of the Everly Brothers, with a CD that has been remastered to underscore their pure sound. Played this for my musician son in law who was not familiar with their music and he is so impressed. All the hits are here, sounding better than ever. An outstanding addition to your collection --

The Millennium collection seems to have the songs I always want from a group or artist. The quality of the sound is there everytime. As the local music stores disappear it is good to be able to trust a system like this as I replace much of my vinyl for a CD collection. This CD gives me what I want for the Everly Brothers in one purchase.

Long ago in californialand, i heard the last everly brothers "hit", on the wings of a nightingale, 1 time and i knew I HAD to have it. Took me about 20 years to find it, in this album. If you really like good music, with tight harmonies, good guitar work, words you can understand, a little bit of country and early rock to the still bitchin, fresh, updated sound of nightingale, then STOP RIGHT HERE and get this album. Enough said!

Some of the Worlds Best Harmony is recorded on this collection. The "Everly Brothers" have been studied by many a Great Artist, and when you listen to this collection you will understand why! The historical information that follows some of their career choices is very interesting also. I had the distinct pleasure of following Don and Phil through Marine Corps boot camp in San Diego, California. You will enjoy the musical pleasure from this Duo for along time. Turn it on, set back, close your eyes and let your mind travel back to the day.

Saw a TV Show not long ago with the Everly Brothers in concert and hadn't really ever though much about them, they were before my time. However, really liked them and I couldn't get the song, (Till) I Kissed You, out of my head. So I bought the CD for my girlfriend, come to find out they have a lot of songs that we liked and had heard, but never really paid that much attention too and didn't know that they sung them. It's a great CD for the money, but I do hate the Eco-Friendly Packaging.

These brothers were early rock favorites of the teenage crowd - a kinder, gentler time. Most teens today would consider them boring, but their messages are still relevent, just to a younger group. I still love their music, and you can actually understand every word they say. Very catchy tunes, and even my granddaughters will play their cds occasionally (they're early twenties). I recommend this cd because it has all their best songs on it.
