The album features 21 of the best known Kylie songs from her incredible 25-year career, on one disc. Kylie's first single, "Locomotion" (later re-titled by Pete Waterman as The Loco-Motion") was released on 28th July 1987 . . . 25 years ago this July! 4.0 out of 5 stars The Best "Best of" June 19, 2012
Format:MP3 Music
Kylie Minogue has been around for a long time. Her first single, "The Loco-Motion" was released in 1988, and similar to Madonna, she has stuck around. Her most recent single, Timebomb isn't represented in this compilation, but most of her other modern work is. This collection marks her career's 25-year anniversary, with a Greatest Hits tour coming soon. Interestingly, late 2012 will include an "anti-tour" where Minogue plays B-Sides and rarities -- I expect we will see a B-Side/Rarities compilation to launch that tour as well.

After completing what EMI calls "an exhaustive marketing survey," the label created this Greatest Hits collection based on what the public wanted. Accordingly, many of the songs here have been culled from more recent times (rather than her early work in the 80's). Many early hits ("Hand on Your Heart" for example) are absent here. Songs from her DECONSTRUCTION album are conspicuously missing (represented only by "Confide in Me"). Because these songs were taken by public vote, fan favorites like "What Do I Have To Do?" "Where the Wild Roses Grow" (the duet with Nick Cave) and "Shocked" didn't make it on to this release. Because this is the most current Greatest Hits (and the songs were picked by a more modern audience), THE BEST OF KYLIE MINOGUE serves as a fantastic place to start for new listeners.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: There is another edition of this release: the CD/DVD combo edition. The content is largely the same except for an additional DVD that captures each song's respective music video. If you like that kind of visual bonus, I'd recommend people to check it out: The Best of Kylie Minogue (CD/DVD).

5.0 out of 5 stars Nothing New Here, But Still A Good Compilation June 19, 2012
Format:Audio CD
Nothing new here, as far as new tracks or videos, but I still give it a 5 star rating cause I love Kylie. Unfortunately the DVD portion is not a continutaion of the "Ultimate Kylie" DVD and the DVD portion of "Hits" where the new videos were added on each release, if this was a continuation, then "Better Than Today" and "Timebomb" would have been on here. This release is part of Kylie's 25 year career celebration in the business, and the tracks were voted by the fans. This is a great collection, but no need for me to get it since I have all the tracks and videos already on this compilation. This CD/DVD combo is great for someone getting to know Kylie's music or doesn't have Kylie's earlier DVD releases.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This collection also comes in an edition that does not include the DVD. If you aren't interested in the music videos, check out The Best of Kylie Minogue; it's a bit cheaper.
