About the Author

Dr. Lindsay Marsh is a young, inspiring woman with a heart to see young people: teenagers, college students and singles, experience God's best, and fulfill their destinies, while keeping their own 'flavor' as a sold-out believer, who is not ashamed of the gospel. Originally from Shaker Heights, Ohio, Minister Lindsay attended The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. for undergraduate, medical school, and post-graduate training, specializing in anesthesiology. June 2006 marks the official completion of her residency training in anesthesiology, concluding a long road of intensive training and sacrifice, accomplished only by His grace. She was chosen as an Early Selection Honoree for the School of Medicine, and therefore exempt from taking the national qualifying exam, the MCAT. Yielding to the call of God on her life, she was ordained at the age of 21, became a physician at the age of 25, and began building her first dream home at the age of 27. She openly shares her present triumphs and past struggles of keeping her virginity and living a pure life before God, to provide an example for young believers to follow. Upon moving to Washington, DC at the age of 18, she connected with her awesome Pastors and mentors Drs. Mike and Dee-Dee Freeman of Spirit of Faith Christian Center, in Temple Hills, M.D. At Spirit of Faith, Minister Lindsay serves as one of her Pastors' personal assistants and is director of Word Up!, a Christian campus outreach designed to focus on college issues like, sex, Greek life, relationships, and money management. Minister Lindsay and one of her close friends founded Word Up! during their sophomore year of college, providing a bible-believing, bible-teaching resource for their peers. GW awarded her with the 'Excellence in Student Life Award', a campus honor and scholarship acknowledging outstanding student leadership and service within the campus community. She is also CEO and creative director of Worth The Wait, LLC an exciting, new clothing label, which challenges the current standard of our day, by emphasizing and celebrating abstinence. Worth The Wait is sexual purity urban expression gear for both men and women. This clothing line is for those who accept the task of representing sexual purity with a little contemporary style and urban class. She is also a leader for S.W.A.T. (Sold-Out Word Activated Teenagers), a radical ministry focused on providing teenagers with real life answers from the Word, to everyday situations, r

I was glad to find this book. It offers a real testamonial of how to abstain from sex in today's world. Follow its advice. What's most impressive is she is candid and honest about her mistakes....doesn't have that "I'm better than you" attitude. If you're a young woman you probably can identify with some of the situations with which she's been presented. READ IT!!!

I found that Lindsay goes from a heart-felt desire to honor and please God to a self indulgent rant about her things. At other times I felt she over simplified the scriptures. I do not believe, like she, that sexual desire is fundamentally freaky, but rather inherently natural and of God.

I also found that she was too myopic in her definition of sexual purity as if male/female interactions are the only kinds God would be displeased with were they to happen outside the confines of marriage. I thought this was just intellectually and spiritually dishonest.

I found that she over simplifies the relationship with God as being one where one can have desire for accoutrements, live holy and all the wonderful things that she accomplished will happen for everyone. Speaking of which, I was turned off to know what kinds of cars she has purchased, the kind of carpet, countertops and fireplace she has in her dream house. Nice attempt but I think the book seriously needs a second edition, prayerfully edited!

How about teaching something about delayed gratification as it relates to life in general, not just sex, because truth be told, no one can accomplish the things she has without practicing such. It takes lots of preparation and decipline to become a physician!

I am 33 years young, divorced and made the decision to remain sexually abstinent back in 2005 until I become remarried again. But Dr. Marsh added to my reasons and convictions for doing so with the information she provided in this book. She talked about things that I hadn't even considered such as how to go about dating in the proper way, how to view the person you are dating in a healthy way, how delving into certain areas predispositions a person to want to go further later, and how God has designed us not to stop once we become aroused sexually, so why even start the physical process through touch and even kissing! why even start? This is a good point to me, because it only makes sexual abstinence difficult when it doesn't have to be!...IT'S LIKE TORTURING ONE'S SELF!!!

Dr. Lindsay even shares some of her own personal experiences and failures in the book, which she didn't have to do, but did anyway so she could help both you and me. I most certainly appreciate her transparency, because people tend to think that only super men and women are capable of sexual purity. But you can do all things through Christ Who strenthens you, and this book is a great motivational and educational tool for doing so. Knowledge is powerful, and God's people perish for lack of it. I would recommend that anyone who has little sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, friends, etcetera that they want to give GOOD reasons why they should remain sexually pure until marriage, get this book. The youth of today are intelligent and want to know the reasons WHY they should wait! ..."because I said so" just doesn't cut it anymore, especially for young men and boys. Yes virginity and sexual purity is for you too. In fact, it's a beautiful thing for a man to remain pure.

I found this book full of good practical and spiritual principles. I encourage many young and old people to read this. Don't just read it, but practice it, live it, walk it, because it is based on the Word of God. Be encourage, chew the meat and spit out the bones (for those who are concerned about her accomplishments, that God gave her), focus on the principle. I plan on buying a few for people I know. Be Blessed!!

This book had a good message. The only thing I didn't like was that the author kind of bragged too much about her accomplishments ( about 6 times in the book ) almost saying that because she has kept her virginity, God has blessed her with all these material/education etc... Not to take away from what she has done, I give her tremendous credit for being so young and successful, but I believe the love of God for us is not based on our goodness or works. He loves us no matter what, but maybe that's how she feels. I was encourage by the book to be pure and wait until marriage for sex, even thought I didn't like the author self bragging tone, the focus of the book is helpful for anyone looking to master control over their sexual sin.

I enjoyed reading this book as a Christian who dealt with sexual purity after accepting Christ as my personal Lord and savior at a very young age and getting caught up in the society of sex. Reading this has really condemned me in areas and ways that I was already being condemned in from God. I would recommend that any young girl who is struggling in this area to read this book as well as the sequel and reach out to other females in the church for accountability and help!

Dr. Marsh is very candid in this book and that's what makes it such a great read. She goes step by step into her story and allows the reader a glimpse into her many personal struggles over the years. She says that she even used this particular book for herself when she was single and that it was a help to her.
