Winsted-born cartoonist shares the love

Tricorner News

WINSTED — In today’s divided America, it probably doesn’t help matters to point out the differences between dog people and cat people. Nonetheless, for those who prefer woofs over meows, a recently released book will not only tickle your funny bone, but also make life better for all animals.
“The Best of Today’s Dogg” (Fastpencil. Inc.) is Winsted-born cartoonist Guy Gilchrist’s compendium of canine-related humor and commentary, featuring cartoons in color and black-and-white, covering everything from hungry hounds and cuddly canines to tales of loss and the emotions they inspire.

From the Back Cover

The Best of Today's Dogg is a humorous, collectible edition of the best of the best of the very popular
Today's Dogg cartoon, designed to touch the heart of everyone anywhere in the world who loves dogs and pets and how they enrich our lives with innocent trust, friendship, insight, and laughs. No one can resist the slobbering, shedding, sniffing, begging, wetting, walking, and unconditional love of everyone's own Today's Dogg, so gently and good-naturedly rendered in Gilchrist's world-famous cartoon art.

The Best of TODAY'S DOGG is a fun-loving mix of Guy's dog comics that reminds the dog lover in all of us of all the reasons why we love the beloved dog. From that friendly sniff of the rumpus dogs give each other to an underwear parade our family pets can provide, as if on cue at the most inappropriate times, Guy shares these moments in this special book. If dogs could talk and tell us what they feel Guy has captured it in this TODAY'S DOGG. Also, using biblical verses with some of the cartoons presented in these comics gives them a certain uniqueness that anyone, including any atheist, can relate to. An amazing artist, Guy shares his beautiful and funny art which lifts the spirit and reminds us all of what a wonderful gift we have been blessed with in our companion, the dog. His comics remind me life is too short to gripe about all the short-comings of our beloved pets and that we should love them for who they truly are, a precious gift from God.
