1.0 out of 5 stars No science here. Just backs pre-existing faith.
If you want to reinforce your beliefs with no real science, then please read on. Having read this book, it is little more than saying "look how poorly the Bible is worded and how well the Qur'an is worded!" as evidence of the supernatural. It is not science, and should not be taken as any real evidence.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOADS OF RESEARCH IN TERMS OF SCIENCE AND RELIGION!, September 13, 2003

WHat is honestly not fair, is people lowering their feedbacks more then neccesarly, on a book, simply because it is aginast their opinions, or they don't like that the book speaks praisingly about something they dislike. I own the original of this book, and i am honestly going to say: NO ONE CAN DENY this scientist, surgeon, and mathmtecian etc... did do RESERACH. You can't deny it, even if you wnat to give him negative stars. It's a clear cut easy read book, with many scientific facts compared to what the bible, the quran as well as some of the torah, has to say. there's an introduction to each religion's belif, not opinionated.
THIS man is a non-muslim! why would he lie about something and then take the time to write a book, had his observations been false? Being non-muslim, i half expected this book to be written in an answering-to tone of all the bible's "misconceptions".Unlike most books who merely state opinions and well... have no root of research, this man took time. Science is a big thing. you can't state your opinion without a theory, research, an experiment, and a conclusion. THat is exaclty what this author did.

5.0 out of 5 stars Some important words about the author, August 17, 2013
By
This review is from: The Bible, the Qu'ran and Science: The Holy Scriptures Examined in the Light of Modern Knowledge (Paperback)
Reviewing a book as vast as THE BIBLE, THE QU'RAN AND SCIENCE is a tough assignment and has been excerpted well by others here. It seems more significant to share the author's own words from a fascinating interview. Dr. Maurice Bucaille (1920 - 1998) was a surgeon by profession. He was also a renowned scholar. In order to be able to read Quran in its original text and to study its meaning and purport through direct access to its early and modern commentaries, he devoted himself to the learning of Arabic language at the ripe age of fifty. Thereafter, he made a beginning by trying to reconcile proven scientific truths with religious axioms. As a result of these studies, he wrote his famous book "QURAN, BIBLE AND SCIENCE" in 1976, which caused a furor in high academic circles - particularly in the Christian world. After a deeper study of Islam and the Quran, he authored another book titled, "THE ORIGIN OF MAN". It comprised Quranic explanations of some of the queries raised much earlier than the period when those queries were logically and satisfactorily resolved by scientific experimentation, to be fully in conformity with the explanations provided by Quran about 1500 years before. The Church acknowledged and accepted these researches of Dr. Bucaille to be a valuable contribution to human knowledge and the author became famous all over the world, like Cambridge, and Oxford Universities in U.K. & Yale and Harvard in USA. He was invited to give Extension Lectures in their academic institutions. By dint of his Quranic thought, and by virtue of his unprejudiced and realistic approach to Quranic thought, and by virtue of his unprejudiced and realistic discussion and research work, Dr. Bucaille has converted a number of high ranking scholars to agree with him and to subscribe to his view that the Quran is a Divine Book, not authored by any human being and actually a Book of Revelations from Almighty God to His Last Prophet, Mohammed.

Dr. Bucaille was of the view that his findings in this behalf are a cause of consternation and chagrin to Western scholars because of their earlier exposure to false and fictitious propaganda against Islam and its Prophet (S.A.W.), by the Christian clergy and by biased Western writers and authors. This misguided class of people could not believe that Quran was the only Scripture which had remained sacrosanct and free from all additions, alterations and interpolations and consequently it still retained the purity to guide mankind in all ages, places and in every conceivable crisis. For over 1400 years it has been the only treasure house of ecclesiastical and cosmic knowledge about the universe and life itself. Mankind has not yet to progress and proceed to a stage where it can fully be au fait with all the pearls and gems of wisdom and truth, garnered in its bosom by this miracle of literacy, excellence and academic purity which could not be matched even in one small sentence by the literary giants of yore, in spite of an open challenge to this effect.'

This entire interview can be found in the Islamic Bulletin dated 1992. In many ways it is an eye opening experience as much so as the book. It deserves our attention, especially today, especially now. Philosophy and science have rarely been so eloquently related. Grady Harp, August 13

5.0 out of 5 stars WHAT A BOOK!!! Enlightning, April 4, 2005
This review is from: The Bible, the Qu'ran and Science: The Holy Scriptures Examined in the Light of Modern Knowledge (Paperback)
It sure makes one wonder about the BIBLE and wheather it has suffered the cruelty of time and man for that matter. The Quran is a book that makes one reflect, not only about God, but about nature and science as well. I loved it, and it has changed my perspective about life in general. Thank you Maurice Bucaille, you have shown me the way.

5.0 out of 5 stars wonderful reference for the open minded, December 16, 2012
This review is from: The Bible, the Qu'ran and Science: The Holy Scriptures Examined in the Light of Modern Knowledge (Paperback)
I Read the book in two languages several time.
You might diagree about few things here and there, but the book is a wonderful analysis from a scholar, scientist and physician.
I encourage you to read it even you disagree with it. You have to put any bias on the side from first to last page. Grab a pen/paper and put your own remarks and examine each and every.
Afterwards, criticize if you wish with honest opinion.
Controversy will be there in all books regardless and you will have to be the judge.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Work, November 15, 2006
This review is from: The Bible, the Qu'ran and Science: The Holy Scriptures Examined in the Light of Modern Knowledge (Paperback)
When I read this book I was very surprised not because of these facts that author and surgeon Maurice Bucaille mentioned in his book (these facts were not new to me) , but because that he is not a Muslim, I highly appreciate his justification with the 2 books : The Quran and The Bible. The one of the most important features of the book is that it talks with PROOFS, with REFRENCES. Thanks for all your time that you gave to write this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid exposition on three Abrahamic scriptures, March 28, 2012

This review is from: The Bible, the Qu'ran and Science: The Holy Scriptures Examined in the Light of Modern Knowledge (Paperback)
Respected Dr. Bucaille has done a tremendous job of detailing the inconsistencies in the Old and the New Testament. This a major scholarly work, I haven't read any book of this profound scholarship which scrutnizies Torah, Bible and Qur'an from the scientific knowledge base and viewpoint. Dr. Bucaille does an excellent job of detailing the history and composition of the Old and the New Testament and how they got corrupted with the passage of time by humans.

If you want to know the history of Torah, Bible and Qur'an and how they stand up to the modern scientific knowledge and tests then this book is definitely for you.

Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Bible, the Qu'ran and Science: The Holy Scriptures Examined in the Light of Modern Knowledge (Paperback)
This is the famous book made by the physician who did the autopsy of one pharaoh mummy. He studied Arabic to read the Quran in its original language and he studied the bible and compared both to what science found about the creation of the universe all the way to the creation of men. The results are eye-opening.
