5.0 out of 5 stars A Man's Point of View, this book is great!!! October 31, 2006
By Brent
Format:Paperback
I've never written are view for any website, but I felt I needed to compliment the authors of this book. First of all, I am a regular guy, who likes to entertain a lot along with my wife. I always grilled dinner, sampled some wine or beer, and avoided making appetizers. But we heard about this book from a friend and decided to give it a try.

Some of the recipes are easy to prepare, some a bit more sophisticated, but so far the results have all been a big hit.

Best of all, the recipes were easy enough to follow even for morons like myself and our gang!

Congrats to the authors, and if anybody likes to entertain a lot this book is invaluable!

5.0 out of 5 stars James Beard Award Nominee! Wow!!!! April 7, 2007
By Barbara
Format:Paperback
I was so pleased with the last book that these authors wrote that I really looked forward to this book. It is very well thought out in it's presentation of recipes and handy tips, and the recipes themselves are to die for. What I especially like about this book is the "Find it Fast Index", which breaks down the recipes into several categories from "Quick and Simple" to "Freezer Friendly" and several in between. It also has a very helpful Menu Planning Chapter for those of us who appreciate help in figuring out what to serve with what! I am still working my way through the recipes, but my favorite right now is Pear, Gorgonzola and Hazelnut Bundles. It is so delicious, and so quick and easy to prepare. I really like the variety of recipes, all the way from Nachos to more sophisticated recipes. The icing on the cake is that this book has been nominated for the best book in America in the Entertaining Category of the James Beard Foundation Awards, which is the equivelant of the Academy Awards, so I must not be the only one who loves it. I'm glad it's being recognized for the great book that it is!

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent food!!! December 8, 2006
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is the most excellent cook book I have ever owned. I used many recipes for my christmas party this year, and they were all a hit. I have never been motivated to write a review before. The spinach and feta phyllo's were fabulous. The biggest hit for my party was the pita chips with the roasted red pepper dip. The book has been circulating among my friends since the party. Really worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars I haven't left the kitchen yet!! November 7, 2006
Format:Paperback
I love this appetizer book! Meredith Deeds has such a knack for bringing gourmet taste and simple preparation together. My husband and friends are grateful for the change from frozen pizza rolls, and I am having a great time trying each recipe. I'm definitely what you would call a novice in the kitchen, but so far Meredith. Deeds' cookbooks make me look like a pro! Try her Mixer Bible too, and you'll see what I mean.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Party Food! October 8, 2006
Format:Paperback
I just hosted a cocktail party and I used a few of the recipes in this book. All of my guests raved about the figs with blue cheese and prosciutto. The shrimp salsa was fantastic. Everything was easy and quick to make. A definite must for someone who loves to throw parties with great food.

5.0 out of 5 stars Little Big Book a James Beard Award Nominee April 7, 2007
Format:Paperback
I bought this book as soon as it came out last fall and so have used it a good deal over the holidays. The egg rolls are the best I have ever eaten and don't get me started on the smoke and fire beef kebabs.Everything that I've made from The Big Book of Appetizers has gotten terrific reviews from my family and friends. The authors give easy to follow directions for dishes that I would have been afraid to try before using their book. Apparently I'm not the only one to sing its praises since it has been nominated for a James Beard Award which is like the Oscars in the cookbook world. For the price (under 20 bucks) this book is one of the best deals going. Don't let the fact that there are no pictures stop you from taking a look at one of the best cookbooks of the year.
