About the Author

RD Riccoboni, Randy to his friends, is an innovative, self-taught artist who began painting at age four when he got into his mothers paint-by-numbers kit. Happy colors are the trademark of this California Artist, who not only boldly paints spectacular landmarks in an exciting impressionistic style, but has also created astounding results in his career. The artist credits encouragement by family and teachers for his drive and inspiration, which has led the way to his success as a best-selling author, speaker and inspirational visionary. In 2007, RD moved his popular Beacon Artworks Gallery into the beautiful Fiesta de Reyes in Old Town’s San Diego State Historic Park.

3.0 out of 5 stars Feel Good Psychology December 6, 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I had hoped this book would be more meat and potato's direction for getting started, promoting and growing an art business. While the book has tidbits of information that I did find helpful, it's emphasis is the psychology of positive thinking and having that as an artist. While I agree with the authors view that positive thinking leads to positive events in life, I think he could have covered that in one chapter, and been more specific throughout the rest of the book.

I enjoyed the book, but this really is a "self help" book disguised for the artist. I would say there are only so many ways to say, "Buck up and keep a positive attitude" and this book goes a bit overboard driving that point home repeatedly. I had wanted lists of art associations, galleries, notes on conducting contracts, how to get noticed, different sources for different art types, publications, suggestions for getting noticed, attending festivals, setting up one's own shows or exhibits. While this book touches haphazardly on these types of things, it really is not the books main focus. It is one I have read, it will go on my bookshelf, and likely never be opened again. It helped a little, and for that I am grateful. I just wanted more than a therapy session about being passionate about life and one's artwork.

5.0 out of 5 stars Creativity is needed for success in the future! June 26, 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Creativity is the new skill for being successful in the future.

Many of my favorite authors (like Daniel Pink, Steven Pressfield, Seth Godin, Jonah Lehrer, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, Austin Kleon, and Jurgeon Wolf) are discussing creativity in their books.

Creative people create opportunities for success.

I'm very grateful that artist RD Ricccoboni has created a step-by-step guide for creative success in business. IT is an excellent book for artists, however, I'd strongly recommend this book for any business person because creativity is needed to be successful in any businesses.

I think this book is highly motivational.

I also suggest some of these books on creativity:

Daniel Pink:A Whole New Mind: Why Right-Brainers Will Rule the Future
Steven Pressfield: Turning Pro: Tap Your Inner Power and Create Your Life's Work
Seth Godin:Linchpin: Are You Indispensable?
Jonah Lehrer:Imagine: How Creativity Works
Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi:Creativity: Flow and the Psychology of Discovery and Invention
Austin Kleon: Steal Like an Artist: 10 Things Nobody Told You About Being Creative
Jurgen Wolff:Creativity Now: Get inspired, create ideas and make them happen now!:

5.0 out of 5 stars A BOOK FROM THE HEART September 19, 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book has been an absolute asset for me to use in building my business, and I'm not even an artist! RD is positive, educated, knowledgeable, giving, caring, and has put his whole heart into this book, to help others. He shares his knowledge and expertise to better other's lives. I love that he connects stories to his experiences and helps you go see that you are in charge of your own destiny.

RD talks about sharing what you love to do, and doing it from your heart. It is never a finished product, it is personal, about the journey, and you should love every bit of what you do. I absolutely agree!

I highly recommend reading this book as it gives you insight into things you never thought about and ways you can incorporate them into your business and personal life to lead a happier and fulfilled life.
