Book Description

Chef Meggy Calhoun realizes her long-held dream with the opening of Boston's hottest new culinary experience. Crazy-busy with her new restaurant, she can't deny a fascination for her hunky new tenant. But will her secret connection to one of New England's most powerful families poison her recipe for success, and leave her heart flambeed?
Trevor Bryce Christos would do anything to protect the woman who raised him. Even seduce a beautiful con artist disguised as a chef and bent on cashing in on his family's wealth. Taking up residence in Meggy's carriage house while disguised as a writer doing research on small town New England is the perfect ploy to catch her at her game. But when the truth of her parentage is revealed, and his ruse exposed, he'll need the townsfolk's help with spin control if love is to remain on the menu.

About the Author

A wife, mother, and grandmother, Mac and her husband were blessed with two rambunctious little boys they managed to raise into wonderful men without any disfiguring mishaps. Dirt bikes and ESPN are the order around their house, and life at the ‘Testosterone Ranch’ more closely resembles one of today’s wacky reality shows, than yesterday’s Leave It To Beaver. One of eight kids, raised just north of Boston, Mac's childhood was a free-for-all, surrounded by hordes of family and friends, a lifestyle that continues to be true today. She moved to Phoenix as an adult because living in the southwest feeds her soul. Her love of books, specifically the romance genre, has been a lifelong affair, both as a reader and a writer. A bout with breast cancer sharpened her resolve to see her stories shared with others. As of today, she is a five-year survivor, living her dream. http://mackenziecrowne.com/wp/

3.0 out of 5 stars 4 stars for first half.....2 stars for last half. September 6, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I really loved this book and the characters all the way up until Trevor reveals to Meggy his true identity. It just crashed and burned for me after that. From that point forward Meggy turned into a self-righteous, vengeful bitch. Her anger towards Trevor was entirely too unreasonable and over the top (as one other reviewer also said). Temporary anger would have been understandable but Meggy's reaction and subsequent actions were just those of an immature, bitter and selfish person. Trevor's actions to protect his grandmother were justified and understandable. However, Trevor didn't do anything right about the way he tried to apologize and win her back. His actions were completely neanderthal. Their reuniting at the end was a complete turn off. Meggy decided to forgive him but not before she concocts a plan to deceive him and then attempts to publicly embarrass and humiliate him. Those are not actions of a woman who is in love.

5.0 out of 5 stars Skillfully written! September 21, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Right from the first page, the characters in this story grabbed me. I think it was because they seemed so real, like people you might meet anywhere. The dialogue was great; Meggy and her friends talked just the way any bunch of close girlfriends might. The hero, Trevor -- who shows up under false pretenses and seduces his "fairy girl" -- is drop dead gorgeous and I was totally able to visualize the love scenes (much to my delight).

What seems like a straight-forward love story gets all sticky and complicated when the heroine, Meggy, discovers the man of her dreams has been lying to her. Oh, what to do? If only a woman could put her feelings and her passion aside in favor of her anger. The truth is, we can't and in the end Meggy and Trevor -- the two, billion-dollar-crossed lovers -- have to battle it out between them.

I stayed up way too late finishing this one, but I just had to find out what happened. Would love win in the end? I'll leave you the pleasure of reading this enjoyable book and discovering the answer to that for yourself.

4.0 out of 5 stars An entertaining read February 27, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Ms. Crowne weaves an enjoyable romance. There were times when I loved Trevor and Meggy and times when I wanted to smack them upside the head. In my opinion, that made them much like the people I know in "real" life. She also integrated a wide array of fun secondary characters with personalities of their own. And the scene where Trevor gives Meggy the heart pendant melted my heart.

1.0 out of 5 stars absolutely hated Trevor
I loved the first book I read by this author. I should have stopped there. It was horrible to think that this is what people think love is. Having someone force you into it. Ugh.

More About the Author

Hi there. My name is Mackenzie Crowne.

I'm a wife, mother and really young grandmother. Together with my high school sweet heart husband, a neurotic Pomeranian and a blind cat, I call Phoenix home because the southwest feeds my soul. My love of the romance genre has been a lifelong affair, both as a reader and a writer. A bout with breast cancer sharpened my resolve to see my stories shared with others. Today I'm a six-year survivor living the dream.

Raised on the concept that a stranger is just one conversation away from being a friend, I love meeting new people. My friends call me Mac. I hope you will too.
