Very interesting story, getting into the head of a grizzly.
Mary Ann Woolsey
In part, this may not be for everyone, however, I found it to be a great story, and I highly recommend it.
Amanda Norton
At age ten in 1954, as a 5th grader, I made a book report on this book.

I read this book the first time more than 50 years ago. It was just as good the second time!

I gave this book a 5 star rating, because of the way it was written. The life story is done so well, that you don't want to put it down. A great read for animal lovers!!!

Beautifully written, the author captures each moment in a way that you almost feel as though you're in the story. If a bear had the ability to write his story, in short, a legacy, this would surely be one that "bears" repeating. In part, this may not be for everyone, however, I found it to be a great story, and I highly recommend it.

Love Mr. Ernest Thompson Seton. Thanks to his detailed stories, we may learn about our great neighbors and potential friends- the kind and majestic Grizzly bears. I am indeed grateful to his observations, contributions and narratives that are never out of time. His thoughtfulness and kindness are echoed in each sentence, paragraph as a space of thought that, perhaps, is not even separated from the living landscape but is its cultural expression of the personal qualities of animals, humans, and other beings.

I read this book as a child .Growing up in a boys home.I drew parallels between myself and this bear cub ,as my mother died when i was less than two.We had to fight every day ,it was the natural way of things .I became lets say "more proficient" as i aged ,and by the time i was a junior in high school everyone started leaving me alone. But i always held the author and that wonderful bear in awe.5starsIn 1999 i finally made it to Yellowstone national park.Got a couple of pictures of grizzly bears eating berries. When I left the boys home i had to leave the copyright 1900 hard bound book there .Now thanks to Amazon i cac read it over and over.

I had never heard of this story before picking it up for free on the kindle, but I'm glad I did. I won't say it's the best tale I've ever read, but it was interesting how the author pieced together information about this animal and created a story for him explaining the bear's life from beginning to end. Watch out though, the ending is a bit of a tear-jerker. Interestingly enough this was also made into a movie back in the 70s called "King of the Grizzlies."
